Tell us a little about yourself. I'm a quietly fun-loving girl who has always loved nature, creativity in nearly any form, the outdoors, stars, sunsets, the ocean... anything dreamy. Anything that reminds me of my Savior and Creator.
Upon first meeting me, most people would see a quiet, shy girl... but once you know me... you will realize the full extent of the hint of a twinkle that always sparkles in my eye.
I was homeschooled all the way through school and I loved it!
As of March 27th 2010, I am now Ashley Ledden! I have a wonderful friend and husband who shares my love for creativity. We love to write and work on movies (camera department) and art together, all for the Lord.
What was your motivation behind this project? I really love to write. Characters come to life in my imagination and just beg to be expressed in the written word. It's like they flow from my heart. I started this book intending it to be a short story about 90 pages long so I could afford to print it. But as I wrote, the characters begged for more room and I just let my heart fly and wrote the characters' lives as they so wanted to be written. I felt like God wanted me to just express who He is through a story, a story that honored Him but wasn't really preachy... thus, the characters came to life and I found the fervor and determination to complete and publish it.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope people will enjoy reading a book that honors God and, through the lives of the people, encourages them to walk closer to Him or to let Him be a part of their lives. I'm hoping it will cheer people and give them a merry heart, and bring families closer together as they enjoy the adventures of this winsome family.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I feel like the Lord helped me write this book and gave me so much inspiration. As I wrote, I felt like I grew to know and trust Him better, because I was trying to learn more about Him and was paying attention to Him. I also feel like the characters touched my life and will always live in my heart, reminding me of the joys of life.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? My Dad, whom I look up to and respect and love. The Lord, whom I serve and love.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: A little synopsis: The Trestle family is striving to enjoy life in their new Texas home despite the awful tragedy that has found its way to their joyful doorstep. To top it off, the shocked small town they have just moved to can't understand these people. The grave townsfolk proudly consider themselves to be religious, righteous people. But these eccentric newcomers? They haven't seen the likes of them before. Will the town coldly ignore this grieving family? Will the Trestles pack up once again in search of a more cheery abode? Adding to their already eventful life, the father keeps catching glimpses of what he believes to be a strange man lurking on the mountain near their home. What is he up to? Follow this unforgettable family as their lives unfold and discover what it has in store for them.
