This is the first book (or novella, rather) that I've had the pleasure of reading by Ms. Witemeyer and I. Am. HOOKED! I LOVED this story! It was so tender and heartwarming and funny! I fell in love with the characters immediately and...wait. What's that you say? This is only ONE novella in a SERIES?! Eee! Why haven't I read anything by Ms. Witemeyer before? (I'll have to remedy that!)

This book reads very well as a standalone, though I've gotta warn you, it'll have you DYING to read the rest of the series!

Thank you, Ms. Witemeyer, for writing such a captivating and heartwarming story for the rest of us to enjoy!

The comical beginning hooks you from the get-go, but as you keep reading, the tenderness and strength of the characters will impress and make you fall in love with them.

The hero of this story has such a unique personality and the heroine was a perfect blend of tender and feisty. Ms. Connealy has a knack for making characters that have more than just your ordinary, typical everyday personalities.

p.s. If you're a fan of Ms. Connealy's "Kincaide" and "Boden" series', you're in luck! This novella ties into both and brings back/mentions some of your favorite characters!

If not for the fact that I'd already read the first book in this series...I STILL would've loved this novella!!

Wow! I absolutely fell in LOVE with everyone in this story, including the camels! Lol, they were such weird little oddballs, but completely ADORABLE. And smart!

I had already liked the character of Bradley Willis after reading "Holding the Fort" (book #1 in the "Fort Reno" series), but this story brought him more fully to life and I was able to understand him better. Once again, he had me laughing out loud at times and grinning from ear to ear at others! Amber's determination and straightforwardness were no match for his stubbornness (or was it loyalty?...)

This was such a unique story! And I don't just mean from other books, but also from within its own series! I loved that the author found a unique piece of history that isn't widely known, and focused the story around it. Just makes it that much more intriguing!

I'm so excited and will be eagerly awaiting book #2, "The Lieutenant's Bargain", set to release in December!

Such a lovely story about the meaning of true love. Not just a flighty little attraction, but a love that withstands time and hardships and rejection.

Marianne is in love with Calvin and she just KNOWS that he's in love with her. The problem is, he's been hurt in the past and is afraid that her love will be unable to withstand the hard times. Determined to prove him wrong, Marianne sets about to prove her faithfulness.

Author Melissa Jagears has created a beautiful story that is filled with a sweet love that flows warmly through you and reminds you that love isn't always two-sided and sometimes you have to work hard with nothing but the HOPE of a return on it.

Bravo, Ms. Jagears! I will be looking forward to getting my hands on the rest of this series!

Novellas are such a wonderful change of pace in reading. While a good long book is really to get into is great, I love how novellas allow you have a have a snack and the treat of moving on to the next story! Hearts Entwined is exceptional as are all the authors! This collection of historical romances is top notch!

The Love Knot by Karen Witemeyer, has an unusual plot which I thoroughly enjoyed. Misunderstanding drove Claire and Pieter apart years ago but a surprising event brings them back together. This is a beautiful story of forgiveness and what true love really is. It can overcome the strongest stubbornness and pride.

The Tangled Ties That Bind by Mary Connealy, was a delightful read, filled with so much humor. Conner has been gone from home for 5 years but returns with big plans for his future to marry his childhood love Maggie. After 5 years she has quit waiting and has moved on with her life. He definitely took her for granted. Both are equally set on pursuing their dreams and it doesnt set well with each other. Conner is determined not to give up. Through his deep love and sacrifices for Maggie, God brings about amazing things.

Bound and Determined by Regina Jennings. Ms. Jennings books are hard to put down so this story was a page turner too! This novella had a lot of humor in it too. (Love that!) Bradley Willis is a private in the cavalry. His youthful impulsiveness though with good intent has him punished with a mission to carry out. To his surprise it is escorting a Captain and is very attractive daughter, Ambrosia, across the scorching Texas plain. Oh and the captains beloved camels! Bradley and Ambrosias feisty personalities were fun to watch play out. Learning about the camels was fascinating and their usefulness to the Texas Calvary in the mid 1800s.

Tied and True by Melissa Jagears kept me turning pages. It is the story of poor boy falls in love with rich girl but with a twist to it. Mariannes parents had her life planned out for her up to the detail of whom she would marry, an equally wealthy childhood friend, David. Her heart though had made other plans as she fell in love with his poor secretary, Calvin. He returned her feelings but strongly believed it would not work. The things she did to prove her love were incredible! I liked her compassion and true servants heart in the Lord. Not only her familys bank account stood in the way of convincing Calvin but memories of a difficult childhood. Marianne truly displayed the motto, Actions speak louder than words to show him that her love was what was important, not rich lifestyle was all she wanted. My what spunk she had! A sweet love story.

I received this book from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for an honest review. The opinions I have stated are my own.

Sometimes it is really nice to be able to read a complete story without having to stay up into the wee hours of the morning finishing the 350th page of a regular novel. That is certainly the beauty of this lovely collection of novellas. I thoroughly enjoyed sitting down for an hour or two and being able to read, from start to finish, an entire story. It was very satisfying! And, as a plus, I'm not sleep deprived!

Each story is very unique, but the collection fits well together as a whole. Based in roughly the same time period, these couples find their way to love even when the odds stack against them. The story, "The Love Knot" was my personal favourite, but each story is lovely! This is the perfect book to take along to the beach this summer.

Thank-you to Graf Martin Communications for a complimentary copy of this novel in exchange for my honest opinion.

My favorite moments & lines from this collection:

    The Love Knot

"You ARE my future, Claire. Nothing is more important to me than you."

Ah! That line! And another moment that stole my heart is later in the book when Peter's sings a low lullaby to a baby. I loved learning about Peter and Claire's history together and where they hailed from.

    The Tangled Ties that Bind

Starting the story with the characters up a tree--literally! Mary Connealy is a comedy genius. There's nothing like getting reacquainted with an old crush while hovering over the deadly horns of a mama buffalo. This scene came to life for me, calling up memories of a trip I took to Wyoming where I saw a buffalo napping beside a picnic table. The giant beast made the table look like doll house furniture.

    Bound and Determined

If you've seen the movie HAWMPS! you will love this gem. Laughed myself to tears in the third chapter. I thought, "Oh no she didn't just go there, but yes, indeed, she did.

    Tied and True

Dont shove away a lifetime of blessing because you fear trials. Youll have them no matter what you do. This story began with some beautiful, poignant moments and had me glued all the way through the ending.

    My Overall Impression:

Loved this collection and would recommend to anyone who loves clean historical romance with a side of laughter. I sighed at the many sweet scenes interwoven with comedy and heart-tugging moments. Can't wait to read more from all these authors!
