Sometimes it is really nice to be able to read a complete story without having to stay up into the wee hours of the morning finishing the 350th page of a regular novel. That is certainly the beauty of this lovely collection of novellas. I thoroughly enjoyed sitting down for an hour or two and being able to read, from start to finish, an entire story. It was very satisfying! And, as a plus, I'm not sleep deprived!

Each story is very unique, but the collection fits well together as a whole. Based in roughly the same time period, these couples find their way to love even when the odds stack against them. The story, "The Love Knot" was my personal favourite, but each story is lovely! This is the perfect book to take along to the beach this summer.

Thank-you to Graf Martin Communications for a complimentary copy of this novel in exchange for my honest opinion.

My favorite moments & lines from this collection:

    The Love Knot

"You ARE my future, Claire. Nothing is more important to me than you."

Ah! That line! And another moment that stole my heart is later in the book when Peter's sings a low lullaby to a baby. I loved learning about Peter and Claire's history together and where they hailed from.

    The Tangled Ties that Bind

Starting the story with the characters up a tree--literally! Mary Connealy is a comedy genius. There's nothing like getting reacquainted with an old crush while hovering over the deadly horns of a mama buffalo. This scene came to life for me, calling up memories of a trip I took to Wyoming where I saw a buffalo napping beside a picnic table. The giant beast made the table look like doll house furniture.

    Bound and Determined

If you've seen the movie HAWMPS! you will love this gem. Laughed myself to tears in the third chapter. I thought, "Oh no she didn't just go there, but yes, indeed, she did.

    Tied and True

Dont shove away a lifetime of blessing because you fear trials. Youll have them no matter what you do. This story began with some beautiful, poignant moments and had me glued all the way through the ending.

    My Overall Impression:

Loved this collection and would recommend to anyone who loves clean historical romance with a side of laughter. I sighed at the many sweet scenes interwoven with comedy and heart-tugging moments. Can't wait to read more from all these authors!

I'll be honest, I only read one of the stories (so far), but I loved it! Karen Witemeyer ends her series with a beautiful story! Claire was interesting to meet in No Other Will Do, and it's been enjoyable to watch her development, especially learning her backstory in this novella. I loved seeing her strength, along with her grace and determination, using that to help those around her. But what happens when her past catches up, especially in the form of a man who is too close for comfort? And just how far is he willing to go to try to earn love that was once lost? I'm going to miss these women, and I'm looking forward to her next series.

I absolutely adored Hearts Entwined. I haven't read a book of novellas in a while and this was one that will stick with me for some time. I have read all four of these authors before so I was quite excited to dive into these short but engaging stories that all showcase each author's abilities and minor characters stories from their series.

The Love Knot by Karen Witemeyer was a story about Claire, a fiery Irish woman, and Pieter a Dutchman with a lot of patience and a determination to tear down his only love's walls that she built around her heart. I so enjoyed watching these two lovebirds let the past hurts and misconceptions go and venture onto the path of true love that was meant for them. This was a story of a young couple separated and brought back together in less than ideal circumstances, but the determination of both assured their happily ever after.

The Tangled Ties that Bind by Mary Connealy was another romantic tale of two people who had grown up together and one went away for a time. Connor comes back and in author Connealy fashion, finds himself and the object of his affection already in trouble. Maggie has just about given up on her dreams to be with Connor when all of a sudden he comes back. Maggie however has new dreams and is now training to be a doctor and moving to the big city. Connor's love for Maggie and at the sacrifice of his own dreams follows Maggie to the big city to be with her and to try and get her to marry him. Both find more than they bargained for but their love that binds them together strengthens.

I was quite excited to read Bound and Determined by Regina Jennings as I wanted to get reacquainted with Private Bradley Willis who is the brother in Hold the Fort and the one that trouble always seems to follow. Bradley has not changed much even though his sister is engaged to his Major, he still finds himself in trouble and a lot of times through no fault of his own. I liked that Bradley met his match in Ambrosia Herald and the information about the camels crossing US prairies was priceless. Hold the Fort was one of my favorite reads so this novella just sweetened the series.

I just finished the third book by Melissa Jagears in her Teaville Moral Society series, and her story, Tied and True took me back to the second book where we get the behind the scenes story of heiress Marianne Lister and David's secretary, Calvin Hochstetler. Marianne and Calvin are in love, but Calvin refuses to pursue her when he feels he is too far beneath her social status and he is not willing to risk abandonment by her. Calvin was hurt as a child, so Marianne sets out to prove her love is true and she goes about it in quite an unconventional way, but oh how bitter sweet their love story was.

I highly recommend this novella collection and all of these authors other stories.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

    Love Knot

Claire came to Texas as a mail-order bride, but didn't end up getting married. She now lives in Harper's Station as a midwife, and sending home money to the her family. When her sister asks her to meet the train, because she is sending her something she is shocked to receive...her nephew?

Pieter van Duran agrees to accompany his infant nephew, Liam, to Harper's Station in order to deliver him to his aunt. Pieter has dreams of starting a dairy farm, and winning back the only woman he ever cared for.

Sparks fly between Claire and Pieter from the moment he steps off of the train. She's a fiery red-head with an Irish accent, and a way with words. While Pieter is a stoic Dutchman of few words, though meaningful and to the point.

Pieter is a man with a mission, he is humble and determined, he wants to be a part of Liam's life no matter what happens, and relishes this opportunity to prove himself. I love how Pieter's family is close to Claire's, and how they are both strong believers.

An engaging read, with fantastic characters that quickly captured my heart. Great dialog and touches of humor, but a story that also packs an emotional punch. My favorite of the collection.

    Tangled Ties That Bind

If you are familiar with the Kincaid Clan then you will appreciate this story even more, Seth and Callie's son, Connor, returns home and finds that he is in for more than a few surprises.

Maggie is all grown up and after Connor left, she found the courage to follows her own interests, and she is currently training to be a doctor. She's committed to her education, and won't let his return get in the way of her dream.

Full of action, humor, and great dialog that grows theirs relationship. I love how Maggie and Connor are reunited and reconnect.

    Bound and Determined

Camels don't like horses, and neither to cowhands. Private Bradley Willis has been assigned to escort the camels with their owner, and his beautiful daughter.

Bradley is more than a little shocked when he discovers his assignment, but he is a man bound by his word and he comes to respect the Captain, and admire Ambrosia during their trek.

An enjoyable adventure with a great ending!

    Tied and True

Marianne and Calvin have known each other for a long time, but her family is wealthy and Calvin is not, so he is afraid to make a move. But that doesn't stop Marianne, she is a caring and compassionate young woman, who treats everyone around her with dignity. She doesn't care what others think, and I admired her strong spirit.
