Kirsten5 Stars Out Of 5classic westernJuly 26, 2021KirstenI think I liked it even more than the first book. Maybe because it had two of the Horsemen's love stories. This book was funny, fast-paced and frolicking good fun with some serious issues and villainy. I loved all the characters both main and minor. I liked how the men, women, children and even the horses all got to be heroes in their own ways.

ConnieKentuckyAge: Over 65Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Great Series Addition!July 22, 2021ConnieKentuckyAge: Over 65Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5What's better than romance, Karen Witemeyer style? How about two romances, Karen Witemeyer style? This is exactly what readers are given in The Heart's Charge, along with a "double the laughter, double the emotions" story! It's the second book in the Hanger's Horsemen series, and I am once again in love with the Horsemen. This story focuses on Mark Wallace and Jonah Brooks, and the action begins on the very first page, when they find themselves helping to deliver a baby. It escalates when they find children missing and two women needing help to protect the unwanted children living at Harmony House. The children are adorable, they are in danger, and they're sure to tug at your heartstrings.
I enjoyed the first book in the Hanger's Horsemen series, and this book is certainly a worthy sequel. If you are looking for swoon-worthy romance, exciting adventure, and a story filled with faith, look no further! The Heart's Charge is meant for all who enjoy historical Christian romance.
I received a copy of this book from the author and Bethany House. I was never required to share a positive review. These are my own thoughts.
VeraNorth CarolinaAge: Over 65Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Enjoyable, Heart-warmingJuly 12, 2021VeraNorth CarolinaAge: Over 65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5The story takes off hilariously heart warming right from the start. Two stalwart warriors come charging in to take charge of a childbirth situated in the wilderness with a despondent distraught widow and no one to help her.
From that we go to the disappearance of boys, a home for foundlings, and two strong ladies.
Two sweet romances - one is a rekindling after a decade of lost contact and the other a drawing together of kindred souls.
Huge warrior horses that seem at one with their riders and have knowledge beyond their innate capabilities.
All in all, a fun read that ends with the good guys catching the bad guys and sweet romances a-bloom, and uncared for children given homes and love.

tickmenotKansas CityGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Old Friends!July 6, 2021tickmenotKansas CityGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5War-hardened and tough, Mark along with Jonah come upon a woman in labor who tries to shoot them every time they come near. No one was more shocked or ill-prepared than Mark, when he found he was being drug into helping deliver a baby. Despite the surprise, he did the deed, only to find the mother rejected the babe.
Because of that, Mark takes the child to a foundling home. Both he and the woman who answers the door are in for the shock of their lives. It turns out to be Katherine, who had rejected his marriage proposal ten years earlier. Lest you think the rest of the story is about how to get these star-crossed lovers back together, there is a whole lot more to this tale.
There are missing children, orphans that have secretly ridden the rails into town, and have been trying to eke out a life. Alone in the world, those children are being taken by the kiddy snatchers.
Mark and Jonah make up half of the famous Hanger's Horsemen. Well-known for fighting when the odds are against them, but succeeding none-the-less, they aim to find the person behind the snatchings. But they experience one dangerous situation after another. There are kidnappings, murder attempts, and times they are left for dead. Will the Hanger's Horsemen fail this time?
Just when it seems all is lost, some surprises take place, including the unmasking of the one behind it. Mark and Jonah made their appearance in book one of this series, and it is fun to learn more about them. No worries, though, this tale can stand on its own.
I recommend this 5-star book to those who like clean, exciting stories told from a Christian viewpoint.

Abby3 Stars Out Of 5a good read byt not for meJuly 6, 2021AbbyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I read the first book in the Hanger's Horsemen series last year and really enjoyed it! I was excited to try book two, The Heart's Charge, out. Unfortunately, I was not able to get into this one. It is full of danger, adventure, and romance. But personally, it is not my favorite. I didn't really connect with the characters. They felt a bit flat to me. However, I am sure many people will love this book along with the characters!
Witmeyer is a master at crafting westerns with love, excitement, and faith content. I will definitely continue to try her books.
