Starting a specific Titus 2 Ministry...
February 16, 2015
Every woman needs close friends to share conversation, gain wisdom and grow in her faith. Based on the scripture of Titus 2, Joneal Kirby encourages women to begin their own Titus 2 ministry which couples multi-generational women through teaching, training, guiding and befriending. Included in Heartfelt is personal stories of women involved in such a ministry as well as guidelines, schedules, preparation and ideas for starting your own Titus 2 small group ministry.
A PENNY FOR MY THOUGHTS:
Though a well-written book, I was just not able to connect with this specific book. I was expecting a more general guide to developing meaningful relationships with friends rather than using the authors specific Titus 2 model. Though a good idea and quite possibly a useable book for such a group, perhaps a bit more direction on the building deeper, closer and more meaningful friendships would help those not in a position to start/ host a Titus 2 ministry (due to location, involvement in church, interest, etc). The author is the founding director of Heart-to-Home Ministry which is a womens mentoring program is based on Titus 2.

Women crave personal and deep relationships. But in today's world of social media it is getting harder and harder to find those deep connections that we crave so much. The young women of today are often living far from their families, the very ones who should be teaching them about marriage, mothering, dinner parties, and relationships. Titus 2 instructs the older women to take the younger women and mentor them. The author has taken this much needed concept and created a ministry structured around the Titus verse. Readers will learn the benefits of mentors and mentoring and will learn how to create this group.
The stories were taken from women who experienced this group and have been blessed in multiple ways. I enjoyed each of the stories and could definitely see why the author saw the need for this type of ministry. The instructions in the last few chapters were insightful and would be very helpful to anyone wanting to set up this type of ministry in their own home. I would recommend this to anyone who feels the need for deeper connections with other women or who feels the need for a mentor.
I received this book free of charge from First Look in exchange for my honest review.
If you are seeking a "How To" guide to begin a ministry to women in your church, fellowship, and community, your search has ended. Author Joneal Kirby walks her readers through her tried and true method of experiencing the fulfillment of the Titus 2 mentoring method, straight from Scripture. She focuses on these areas:
Study of God's Word
Being teachable and reachable
Being the woman you deserve to be
Steps to begin your own Titus 2 Heart To Home group
Each chapter begins with a personal experience, the author then shares her thoughts, a study guide is tucked into each chapter with ample room to answer in the book, then a personal testimony from a mentor and a mentee concludes each chapter. Not only would this be an excellent personal guide to begin a Titus 2 mentoring women's group, but the book itself would be a wonderful resource to transition into a monthly Heart To Home group in your area.
My favorite chapter is chapter 11, where the author shares concrete examples of how to prepare for a meeting, organize and lead a meeting, and ways to involve the ladies who attend. No matter if your church already has a women's ministry, or is searching for a way to begin this ministry, Heartfelt will bless your outreach to the women in your life.
I encourage you to purchase a copy for yourself and your pastor. It will inspire and encourage you to adapt the Titus 2 method in your relationships with the younger women in your circle.
