Elizabeth Avery could easily be the girl next door. But what she has planned will make your blood run cold.
At first glance, the crimes appear random. Arson. Theft. Fraud. Murder. But these are more than random crimes. Theyre moves in an increasingly deadly game. And the one element they have in common: a woman who is gorgeous, clever . . . and lethal.
Elizabeth Avery has a winsome smile and flawless figure, but underneath is a heart of ice. Shes a master manipulator, convincing strangers to do the unthinkable. And she orchestrates it all without getting too close. Until now.
When Elizabeth ruthlessly disposes of an inquisitive young reporter, her crime catches the attention of Federal Prosecutor Allison Pierce, FBI Special Agent Nicole Hedges, and crime reporter Cassidy Shaw. They know theyre dealing with a cold-blooded murderer who could strike at any time. What they dont know is that theyre already on a first-name basis with the killer.
And one of them may be next on her list.

Cassidy will do anything for a story for her job as crime reporter. Elizabeth Avery is Cassidy's new friend and is a master manipulator. She cons Cassidy into buying her new clothes and lies fly out of her mouth as easily as air. Cassidy has no idea her new friend is a sociopath, an expert liar, as well as a murderer. Cassidy feels empty inside and thinks maybe Elizabeth's friendship can help fill that void.
Nicole discovers something that will change her life forever. She pushes away Leif Larson, who she had begun to think of as her boyfriend. She tells no one about what is stressing her out initially. She thinks she can handle it on her own. She dives in to work, trying to find out who killed a young intern reporter at Cassidy's TV station. She is also helping Allison gather evidence to convict another murderer, who is also a medical student.
Allison is faced with a decision regarding her down-and-out sister, who has reappeared in her life and begins to live with Allison and her husband as she has nowhere else to go. Lindsay promises she is clean and sober and has left her loser boyfriend behind. Allison also knows something is wrong with Nicole, but can't get a straight answer from her. Once she finally learns what is going on with Nicole, she decides to pray for her and show her Christ by loving her and supporting her with mercy and compassion. Allison is also intent on catching two criminals and putting them in jail for a very long time.
While there is a ton of action and lots of thrills, an interesting and entertaining plot, I really wish there were no sexual situations in the story. The plot moves along quickly and I couldn't put the book down. I have really come to enjoy these three female characters and almost feel like they are friends of my own. I hope the next book can maintain the high energy, but without the sexual situations. The next book in the series is titled, Eyes of Justice. I look forward to reading about the Triple Threat Club's latest adventure in fighting crime.
SimkaAge: 18-24Gender: female3 Stars Out Of 5It's Ok...April 8, 2012SimkaAge: 18-24Gender: femaleQuality: 3Value: 3Meets Expectations: 2This book is the third in the Triple Threat series featuring: Allison, a federal prosecutor; Nicole a FBI agent; and Cassidy a TV journalist. These three intelligent women investigate a new cold-blooded murderer-- Elizabeth Avery. She is beautiful, smart and clever, but under all of that she is cold, calculated, and a manipulative person. But more important than that, she is dangerous. After the murder of a reporter, she catches the interest of the 'Triple Threat'. They must connect the pieces to catch Avery before it is too late...
Overall, I must say that this book was OK. It wasn't terrible and it wasn't over the top. Knowing who the culprit was before hand was a clever idea, but I find it took out the fun of 'guessing who did it'. There was good action, and twists and turns that were very commendable.

Josh PhelpsBerea, KyAge: 35-44Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Heart of Ice is amazing!February 29, 2012Josh PhelpsBerea, KyAge: 35-44Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Another homerun! That is how I would describe this next installment of the Triple Threat Club. Heart of Ice, by Lis Wiehl and April Henry is riveting and will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the novel.
When multiple bodies turn up Allison, the federal prosecutor, and Nicole, an FBI Agent must figure out who is responsible. Insert Elizabeth who has the gift of manipulation and can get most people to do whatever she wants them to do. From getting free clothes to having people kill for her, she won't stop until she gets what she wants. This poses a problem as she friends Cassidy, the reporter and third member of the triple threat club. Read along as the one hits close to home for all of the ladies as they search out the truth.
This book is full of twists, turns, and surprises that will keep you reading and not wanting to put the book down. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes murder mysteries. You will not be disappointed and you do not need to read the other books in the triple threat club, but they are just as exciting. This book is written with a Christian perspective but also tends to lean towards general fiction.

I bought this book for our church library at a Christian Book Store. I thought I could trust books published by Thomas Nelson but I have been proved wrong. The first two people who checked it out couldn't get past the first few chapters. One read the ending to see if it was redeeming, but she said it wasn't. So I took it home to read. It was so unedifying and a few 'Christian' words tied in did not make it an appropriate book for Christian audiences. Too much attention on the sociopath character(s).
PastorWisconsinAge: 45-54Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5An Action Packed ThrillerJanuary 26, 2012PastorWisconsinAge: 45-54Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have thorougly enjoyed everyone of the books in the "Triple Threat" series by Lis Wiehl and April Henry. "Heart of Ice" is no exception. It is a fast read with plenty of action and thrills. There is deception, arson, and murder. We also get an inside look at the personal lives of the three main characters: Alison, a Federal prosecuter, Nicole, an FBI agent, and Cassidy, a television reporter. Together they solve the the crimes conceived by Elizabeth, who has a heart of ice. (They know her personally, but did not suspect her until...). Elizabeth is pretty and winsome, but lethal. You don't want to cross her. And Nicole's daughter is alone with her for a swimming lesson. Will Nicole get there in time and be able to save her daughter before its too late? One of the members in the Triple Threat Club is also on Elizabeth's list. Who? You will have to read the book. Most of the time, Elizabeth gets other to do her dirty work. She doesn't get too close. But this time she as to take matters into her own hands. Will she get caught and how much evil will she conceive?
I had been looking forward to this book since I read the last one in the series, "Hand of Fate". I have read the books and also listened to them on audio books. I enjoy them both ways. Now, I look foward to the fourth book in the series. I highly recommend this book. You won't be disappointed.
