Editorial Reviews

4-star review
Boeshaar opens this My Heart Belongs installment with a surprise encounter that sets a comical tone for the beginning of the book. Moderate- to fast-paced throughout and written in the third-person omniscient point of view, we encounter distrust, deceit, anxiety, faith, revelation, survival, etc. Not only do we follow the main characters, but we see a budding romance between sub characters as well. Recommended to all who love a good romance.

Andrea Boeshaar, who is an historical writer and master storyteller again showcased her many talents in "Lily’s Dilemma."  The book runs the gamut from humor, courage, sacrifice and longing to villainy.  It is one which definitely holds the reader’s attention and interest – such as "how can I lay this aside and not finish NOW?"  It entertains, encourages and even wishes one were involved to bring justice to the villain.  All of Andrea’s books are very, very interesting both in the story line and the historical aspect, as one can never read without learning something new.  All kudos to the author for another historical novel who, in telling, makes the people come to life for the reader to thoroughly enjoy.

My Heart Belongs in Shenandoah Valley is a gentle ( how Mac treats Lily in every way especially where he has to let her know that the land that she thinks is hers he owns) gracefulness ( how Lily reacted to Mac when he proved to her the situation as well as how sweet she is to him there after so they start to fall in love) honorable ( is how Mac is as a gentleman with Lily) precarious - the situation that Lily was in when Matt was gone for a bit, that if she didn't marry this man who was twice her age to save her family and not for love, and she would lose the love of her life forever) will Mac save the day? Will she have to marry that elderly man? Will she save her family?

This is a sweet inspirational story with some very interesting characters. Lily and Mac both learn about trusting God--and forgiving those who wronged them.

My Heart Belongs in the Shenandoah Valley - Lily's Dilemma is a quick read which takes the reader back to 1816 in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley right after the War of 1812. Lily Laughlin's life is thrown upside down after her father passes away and Captain Albright breezes into her little village and buys the land owned by her family without her knowledge.

Mac and Lily eventually become friends. I enjoyed the dialog between the two of them and the other fun characters, including Lily's Aunt Hilda and the budding relationship with Mac's good friend, John Blake. I kept waiting to see how Lily's guardian, Silas Everett, would get his punishment which didn't come until the very end of the book!

In the Shenandoah Valley is the first book by Andrea Boeshaar I have read. I will say it won't be my last. Was really. Good. Loved the characters the book was well written.

Poor Lily after the death of her father to raise her 2 brothers and put in the hands of a caregiver. Who I might add is old enough to be a grandfather. Threatening her she has to marry him or leave what is hers. A stranger comes to town and he steps in to try to help her. Captain Mac Albright has things going on in his life doesn't have time for relationships. Problem arises when Lily finds out her caregiver has sold her land to the Captain without her knowledge. What is she to do? She needs to find her fathers will to see what her father really did. This book is full of surprises and adventure. At times I was even laughing. I was glad to read some inspirational in it as well.
