Set in 1895, Maude's family has owned the Winds of Mackinac Inn for generations. When her mother dies, her father won’t let Maude run the inn without a husband. To prove she is capable of running an inn without help, she disguises herself as a maid and goes to work at the nearby famous Grand Hotel. Ben Steffans is a journalist for the Detroit Post, who also disguises himself as a wealthy industrialist to help him write a story about gold digging men chasing heiresses at the famous hotel.
