This book was absolutely amazing !!! I fell in love with the characters, they were such remarkable personalities. I don't ever reread a book but this one I will., I am actually buying this in hardback to add to my collection.
Pepper Basham did a great job of telling a story about two people from completely different worlds working together to help a community overcome their fear of change. I hope that this book has more to the series as I loved this little mountain community and hope to learn more from them. Thanks for the great book.
I volunteered to read this book from Barbour Publishing in return for my honest feed back, the thoughts and opinions expressed within are my own.

vics495484 Stars Out Of 5Good book!March 26, 2019vics49548Quality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4I loved journeying into the Blue Ridge Mountains with Laurel and Jonathan. Author Pepper Basham filled her story with colloquialism that was both colorful and meaningful. I so enjoyed those wonderful phrases!
While this is a sweet, clean romance and clearly Christian fiction, that didn't stop Basham from tackling some tough issues such as a drunken father, and a father who doesn't care about his son beyond what he can do for the family. Both situations were heartbreaking but we're reminded that God understands what we're dealing with and is there to help us. She also writes about racism and prejudices. It was difficult to understand how people in the mountains could be prejudiced against others when that's something they deal with themselves.
There were plenty of light moments and humor, so please don't think it was a heavy read because it wasn't. The characters were so true to life that I was chuckling one minute and getting aggravated the next. And Basham's descriptions of the Blue Ridge Mountains made me want to travel there someday. It must be beautiful!
If you enjoy Christian fiction with true to life characters then you must read My Heart Belongs in the Blue Ridge.

Laurel's Dream is filled to bursting with authentic language, deep story, and Basham's trademark wit and romance. I was wholly transported to the hills of Appalachia! Spending several of my formative years in that part of NC, it felt like I was among the folks on Doggett Mountain once again, listening to them tell yarns and living life to the fullest despite having meager possessions. My experience was in the early 1970s but life was still hard there, although there was a distinct goodness about it and the people that I haven't seen anywhere else I've lived. Laurel's Dream wrapped around my heart with its genuineness, romance, and all around excellence.
I was gifted an electronic copy of the story from the author. No review was required. No compensation has been received.
J Link5 Stars Out Of 5Wonderful Story!February 13, 2019J LinkQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5I truly enjoyed My Heart Belongs in the Blue Ridge: Laurel's Dream, by Pepper Basham. The story seemed to flow with a ribbon of truth. Based on the author's acknowledgements, this was more than just research. There is family history involved and that lends authenticity to the people and the situations. The setting is the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina during World War I. The land was rugged and the community was close knit and unaccepting of strangers. It was a pleasure to see how love and kindness broke through to reach the hearts of the locals. The female lead character, Laurel, was someone you would love to be friends with. She was smart, funny, and sincere. It was easy to see why Jonathan fell in love with her. I definitely recommend this book.
