We all have someone we need to forgive. But sometimes it's hard to let go of our hurt and anger in order to truly forgive and move on. For the Amish, forgiving others is woven into the very fabric of their faith. From daily annoyances to heartbreaking tragedy, they exhibit an incredible capacity for forgiveness that often baffles us.
Through true stories gathered from a variety of Amish communities, bestselling author Suzanne Woods Fisher shows you how the Amish are able to release their pain and desire for revenge, and live at peace with others. Her in-depth, personal research uncovers the astounding yet fundamental way the Amish can forgive anyone from the angry customer at the grocery store to the shooter at Nickel Mines. You'll learn how to invite God into your story, apply lessons from the Amish to your own circumstances, and find the freedom that comes with true forgiveness.

When Jesus responded to the disciples' request: 'teach us to pray' He gave them a 'blue print', an 'outline'.
The prayer includes the words: ".....as we forgive those who sin against us."
In this book these words become 3-dimensional.
The real life events, the reality of the forgiveness extended by the persons wounded deeply - and the reason they're able to truly forgive: "Unwavering confidence in God's providence" - make the book a powerful encouragement. It shows us what it means to live out the " Hallowed be YOUR NAME" part of the prayer Jesus taught.

Dallas, Tx.5 Stars Out Of 5The Heart of the AMISHJuly 18, 2016Dallas, Tx.Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have'nt read this book yet, but by reading what others said I DIFFINATLY NEED THIS BOOK and I'm going to buy 1 for myself , and more as gifts. I have been going thru a very rough time in my life : molested by my uncle many times from 1st grade thru 4th grade. My mom blames me instead of her brother. My mom and my brother has'nt talked to me for over a year. There are many people in my life that I thought I forgave, but trully I have'nt. I've been seeing a Christian Councler for a year now, but I really have'nt received the help that I need, and I NEED help on HOW TO FORGIVE ( truely forgive ), and HOW TO MOVE FORWARDS IN MY LIFE. From reading the reviews from other people, I'm sure this book will help me in those areas where my Christian Councler has not helped me.

The more I read, the more I took a hard look at myself. I thought I forgave slights, hurts, things done to me in the past, some I did but after really thinking about it, I haven't really forgiven either them or myself. I think of myself as a good person but forgiveness.... This is a must read and I will reread it many times. As quoted in the book, "Forgiveness can do so much". I think we as a human race need this.
