Healthy and Free A Journey to Wellness for Your Body, Soul, and Spirit encourages the reader to become more aware of the importance of physical exercise, proper nutrition, and spiritual fitness and introduces a series of practical, proven guideline for healthier living.
The book is also Benis personal story, a story of struggle and transformation, a story motivated by her passionate love and concern for peoples of the world, who are undernourished, or unaware of the need for and importance of finding and pursuing tools that lead to healthy living.
The importance of soul health is reinforced with Biblical principles and documented examples of how this is a precursor to physical wellness. In her presentation of Tools for Health Beni discusses hydration, the power of sleep, exercise, proper eating, and detoxing for a better life. I found the Q&A section to be of special interest as well as the recipes and the references to essential oils, and nutritional supplements.
The book is thoroughly researched and meticulously documented with chapter end notes and a resource list with websites with recommended product brands, food documentaries, recommending reading, and recommended blogs.
Beni Johnson serves with her husband Bill Johnson as senior pastors of Bethel Church of Redding, California and is highly respected internationally for her role overseeing Bethels intercessory prayer ministry.

I found this book to be a well written guide to various ways to enhance wellness in all areas of life. The cover presents an array of beautiful fruits and other colorful scenes that one would find in a life well-lived. This book is about thriving rather than just surviving.
The book gives advice on tactics to achieving results using well known and lesser known ways and ingredients to get to a better place in health for body, soul. and spirit. I am currently considering doing a detox diet, and I appreciated that several approaches were mentioned so I have a basis for researching ideas I would not have known about otherwise.
Because the chemical makeup of each individual varies considerably, I would want to look at more than just this one book before I tried suggested approaches. I think this book is a primer for those who feel something is not quite right with the way they are feeling and they want to make improvement. Some people will have their eyes opened to what may be wrong that can be helped by Beni's approach. Others, because of the scope of what ails them, will not find this book to contain the depth needed to cover their more complex health problems.
I thank bookfun.org, the author, and the publisher for giving me this book in exchange for an honest review. I believe the majority of people who read this book will find something in it that will favorably advance their health.
Melissa4 Stars Out Of 5Identify your whyJanuary 26, 2016MelissaQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4This is really a great book. If you dont really like books about health (and I dont) then you might actually like this book.
Beni begins with a very important question: Why? Why do you want to get healthy/loose weight?
I never thought about how important the why is. Honestly, I havent reach and answer for a good why and therefore have no motivation for loosing weight. I need a good why that speaks to me. Not someone elses why and why they think I should.
I think until it truly becomes important to us we wont sustain the changes we need to make.
Beni gives wonderful advice about changes we can make. She definitely doesnt push for dieting but more for healthy living.
She covers so many topics this is bound to speak to everyone at some level.

Deana5 Stars Out Of 5A Healthier YouJanuary 2, 2016DeanaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5It's that time of year when we start thinking about our health and make promises to eat healthier and exercise more. But the reality is most of us don't follow throug even though we promise ourselves we will. We get so busy with our lives, we forget to stop and smell the roses. I was one of those high energy people who was always on the go. I might have looked healthy, but I was far from being in good shape and really eating good healthy meals. I have decided that now is the time to take my health serious and have a healthy mind , body and spirit.
I loved the author's transparency as she takes us on her journey to a healthier life. It is not always easy but she shows us ways to achieve our goal with grace and wisdom. I appreciate her openness and insight into this subject. She is very encouraging and is very open to sharing her struggles along the way. The book is filled with helpful tools and information that will guide you on your journey to achieve your goal. I loved how she suggested speaking scriptures over ourselves to begin to be physically, emotionally and spiritually healthy. "He made your body , soul, and spirit- those three parts of your bring that are all connected - and when they are healthy and in harmony with each other , you will experience wellness." At the end of the book, the author has graciously included some healthy recipes to try and has a question and answer section at the end. Be encouraged as you take this journey , and know that Gid is right there with you cheering you on.
