If it wasn't that, I was pretty sure it would be either too difficult to do or would require me eating some pretty nasty, and unenjoyable foods. Come on, now. I know all of you are wondering just how tasty the food can possibly be.
After some research into Trim Healthy Mama, I decided to give it a try. While I waited for the cookbook to arrive, I went out to purchase the main book so I could have a better understanding about what Trim Healthy Mama was and how it worked. Okay... so I also planned on giving it a rather skeptical try with my busy life.
Once the cookbook came, I opened it up and perused it and loved it from the beginning. At least I loved the pictures and the layout and the foods didn't seem crazy. It all looked like things I would cook on a monthly basis or things that were similar to what I already cook. Convinced I should start small, I started with a Crockpot recipe. I decided to try the chicken recipe. Oh my goodness. It tasted just like the recipe I have for chicken wrapped in bacon that I'm pretty sure is a ton of calories... especially when you put it over rice. This recipe tasted the exact same. I put it over the rice (which is made from cauliflower) and it was a huge hit with my 7-year-old and my 5-year-old. Even my husband liked it and he doesn't normally like cauliflower. I was sold.
The cookbook easily lays out the recipes and gives you some other alternatives to try. I love that real butter is used and coconut oil. I'll admit... I'm still a little skeptical on the drink section, but I'm working up the nerve to give it a try. I just don't see how some of those ingredients can make for a tasty drink.
Needless to say, for Christmas I purchased the main book for my mom and then she went out to get the cookbook too. Here's to 2016 and becoming a Trim Healthy Mama.

kris105 Stars Out Of 5It works!December 12, 2016kris10Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I first got the old book, which was full of information about the plan, but the recipes were hard to follow. A lot of "throw in some of this," "add a pinch of that" and not a whole lot of specific directions. That being said, the ideas behind the recipes really intrigued me. I'm a registered nurse and know a little bit about metabolism, hormones, dietary needs, etc. but I had never thought of the fuel sources the way they taught about them. It was very interesting and made a lot of sense. I decided to give it a try and it worked. I lost weight in the first week and continued to steadily lose (1-2lb per week) over the course of the next few months. Then I got pregnant and wondered if I could maintain the eating habits while expecting. I usually gain 35-40 lb with each pregnancy and have a hard time getting it off after, but not this time. I only gained 25lb and was back in my pre-pregnancy clothes two weeks after delivery! My husband saw the change and wanted on board. He lost about 15 lb and that helped his snoring decrease significantly. My friend saw the change and bought her own book. She and her teen daughters all lost weight and she had to decrease her blood pressure medicine.
That was the old book. The new book is great! I like that the plan book and cookbook are two separate books. The recipes are beautifully photographed and easy to follow. My family (multiple kids) loves most of the things I fix. Some of our favorites include cheeseburger pie, meatloaf, chicken jalepeno popper soup, bring on the buttah pancakes, fooled ya pizza, roasted nonstarchies, green fries, big fried egg trick, Trimtastic chocolate cake, Big Boy Smoothies, the Shrinker and the BBQ chicken. Honestly, I could name a lot more! Some of the recipes call for specialty ingredients, but most do not or you can get by without it. Also, when I first started THM over 3 years ago, a lot of the specialty items were only available online (I live in the country, lol) but now my local big-chain grocery store carries a lot of them.
I highly recommend this cookbook and way of eating. It is yummy and it works. -

I bought this new cookbook based solely on my love for this program! I have lost 45 pounds and have my blood sugar under control. There are recipes for all different tastes and budgets. I have been using it daily and have yet to find a recipe my family didn't love. This book is a perfect supplement to THM The Plan or the original THM book. It is not required to do the plan, but helps in meal planning and coming up with ideas.
