But then she meets Sullivan Crisp, the decidedly unorthodox psychologist who is well-known for his quirky sense of humor and incorporation of "game show" theology into his counseling sessions. He sees the beauty hidden in Lucia and sets about trying to help her find it for herself. Lucia longs for the faith to walk on water. And with the endlessly creative ways God uses our meager efforts to bring hope and new life, she just might find the path that leads her there.

When life seems to conspire against you, how do you find the courage to dive into Healing Waters?
When Lucia Coffey looks at her reflection, she sees fat and failure. When she looks at her sister Sonia, she sees svelte and success. When she looks at God, she sees that divine love can't possibly be doled out equally. All her life, Lucia has coped by throwing herself into taking care of those who seem more worthy of God's goods, and feeding the dreams she has buried alive.
But when tragedy strikes Lucia's family, she meets Sullivan Crisp--a decidedly offbeat psychologist who is trying to cope with his own shattered past. They form an alliance to try to hold her family together and, in the process, both tentatively dip their toes into the waters of healing. Step by faltering step they wade in, forging an unlikely community and digging deep for the courage to face a lurking danger that could pull them under . . . or remind them what it's like to dance on the waves.

Bessybear5 Stars Out Of 5Healing Waters, Sullivan Crisp Series #2February 10, 2016BessybearQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I loved everything about this book. The story that was told was very good, but the lessons learned were invaluable. Everyone probably has something in their lives that they have buried or things they blame themselves for. This book is therapeutic while being a very engaging story. I highly recommend reading it.

WOW!!February 1, 2015CindiPennsylvaniaAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5If you've ever felt bad about yourself physically or emotionally you will enjoy this novel. It covers so much and does so in such a way that you'll feel like you have a personal counselor/therapist.
I cannot begin to say how much this book helped in ways that I didn't even know were issues for me. It's no wonder this won book of the year!
Although this is the second book in the series, it can easily be read as a standalone.
I highly recommend this novel (and the entire series). You won't be disappointed.

Irene Thibodeau5 Stars Out Of 5September 17, 2010Irene ThibodeauEven though this is #2 in the Sullivan Crisp series, you do not need to read #1 to appreciate the story. The characters are believable with honest emotions and realistic situations to deal with. The story flowed, my interest was held tight, I was right there with them!I can honestly say that I not only enjoyed a good story, I really feel I better understand how God can work within our lives. I can actually relate to some of the situations (in slightly different variations), and hopefully have learned better coping tactics for having read this book. I would recommend this book for everyone. It left me feeling .... good :)
