Were all sick and were all hurting. Whether its a broken arm or a broken heart, a chronic illness or wounds from our past, the fact remains: We are all in desperate need of Gods healing. In our pain, it can be easy to believe God has forgotten about us, to believe that he doesnt even care.
Dr. Reggie Anderson, author of the acclaimed memoir Appointments with Heaven, knows it cant be predicted how Gods healing work will come to pass in our lives and hearts . . . only that it will. As a country doctor who has had remarkable experiences attending people in pain, Reggie wants you to see what he sees every daythat whatever your sickness, whatever your hurt, God is alive and active in your life. He wants you to be truly well, even if that looks different than you might expect. Rich in story and inspiration, The One Year Book of Healing will reveal the many ways our Savior heals and intervenes in the lives of the sick and the hurtinggiving you the faith, hope, and patience to believe that God can do the same in your life.

Guatejen2 Stars Out Of 5Book Review: One Year Book of HealingOctober 18, 2016GuatejenQuality: 4Value: 3Meets Expectations: 2The One Year Book of Healing: Daily Appointments with God for Physical, Spiritual, and Emotional Wholeness is a devotional that reads more like a Chicken Soup for the Soul book. The stories are all about people who received different types of healing. The formula for each day is a Bible verse, a story, "Today's RX" (some advice), and a prayer. In the introduction, the author points out that healing comes in different ways.
"Sometimes, God heals us partially by removing our disease or fixing our wounds. Sometimes, he heals us completely by taking us to our forever home in heaven. Often, he uses modern medicine... to accomplish his healing. How God's healing work will be accomplished cannot be predicted--only that it will happen."
Although I agree that healing comes in different ways, I do not agree that healing will happen. For instance, sometimes people are sick or bitter for their entire lives. Sometimes people die and go to hell.
I also do not agree with all of the comments in the RX sections. Here is a sampling:
"God has the power, and the will, to snatch us from the very jaws of death." - October 18
"Whether God heals us here and now or then and there, his answer to our prayer for healing is always "yes!" -July 17
"When you're holding the Lord's hand, even if you stumble, you won't fall." -February 6
"Depression often happens when we focus on the past. Focus on the future, and God's promises will help to brighten your day." -January 5
"Expand your mind so you can know how much God loves you." -May 23
God doesn't always have "the will to snatch us from the very jaws of death." People die. God doesn't always heal. Sometimes we DO fall. Depression can't always be fixed by simply focusing on the future. And extra-Biblical advice such as "expand your mind" is entering into dangerous territory.
Most of the issues I have with this book are because of the how-to devotional format as the reader might be tempted to pick up this book in lieu of the Bible, which is all that we need to learn about God's healing. I wish the format of the book had been a simple book of testimony instead. However, I very much enjoyed reading the stories, as they serve as reminders that our God is Jehovah Rapha, the God who Heals.

It is for those that need some healing and adjustment for the tough times in life. It starts in January (but you can pick up and start reading any time of the year) and covers different subjects from month to month. You could pick this up and read any day of the year at anytime you want to read it. There is a new topic each week and suggest that you read and pray about that subject everyday. The purpose is to start fresh, relax and renew your feelings and strengthen your relationship with GOD.
I would recommend this to those that have Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), depression, feeling sad, and sluggish. This book covers those deep feelings and if you are not aware of this subject then you might see this book as a dark and dreary read. If you are familiar with SAD or depression then when you pick this up you will be amazed how you can relate to the subjects and GOD's word to help you through the day. Each day starts with a bible verse, a quick devotional, a section called today's Rx, and a prayer for the day.

This book is divided into twelve months. There is a devotion for each day of the month. To begin each month, there is a check-up, or an explanation of what the reader can expect during that time period. This also includes a Booster Shot intended to encourage better health. Each devotion includes a Bible verse or passage, a short devotion, Todays RX, a suggestion to aid in better health, and a short prayer. The author lists seven common truths to impart to readers: God is the one who heals. Sometimes emotional healing must come first. Healing comes in many forms. Our hope for healing is only in Jesus Christ. Prayer is an important part of the healing process. Healthy living leads to healthy lives, and sometimes we must overcome obstacles to healing. The book ends with a Scripture Index listing each verse used and the day in which it was used.
This is a wonderful book. It would be a terrific gift for someone healing from almost any type of pain. I would recommend this book to anyone searching for a way to heal.
