This translation is a good alignment between accuracy and readability, maintaining accuracy without greatly sacrificing readability to do so. Too many kids bibles are dodgy theologically when studied carefully. The HCSB is suitable for detailed study by children or average readers, and this particular edition includes useful cross-references that will aid study. The colour pages are good and provide helpful explanatory material, but unfortunately contain no illustrations of scriptural events, reducing the attraction for kids to actually read the Bible. The binding is decent quality, for a modern bible anyway (everyone's cutting costs these days).

I particularly like the fact that this same bible is printed in multiple themes - different covers, different colour schemes on the insert pages etc. This means that each of my children can be given a different bible, so each feels theirs is unique and special, while all still having identical translations so we can study together (I bought four different ones at once, and expect to buy more in future...).
