The HCSB translation is an easy to understand English version, yet it contains many familiar verses. This comes from the in depth study by the scholar team to find a word for word and literal translation. Many bracketed scriptures with footnotes letting you know why they were omitted from other translations, or why they are included in this one. I have read where earlier versions only had a topical concordance, but, this has been corrected and it now contains a full concordance. It is a large bible, one I do not recommend carrying with you, only for study. I purchased the Mahogany simulated leather cover, and it holds up really well. It is a sewn binding, and lays flat at any point I go to. The use of Messiah and Yahweh along with God and Lord adds an extra power not normally understood. This is a wonderful study bible with in depth notes, commentary, HCSB bullet notes and many more features. I do not believe anyone would be disappointed with this bible.

The Holman Christian Standard study Bible is wonderful! The way it uses Yahweh in the Old Testament and Messiah in the correct way in the New Testament is not only unusual, it is excellent. For those who want to understand the Bible and what it says this is the Bible you need! No matter if you know nothing about the Bible or you are a Sunday School Teacher or Pastor this is the perfect Bible. Accurate and dependable to the original meaning of the Biblical writers. Most translations of the Bible can follow along nicely. The notes show original unique insight and are meaningful for us today to better understand Bible verses and their meanings. Notes are more complete and in depth, compared to other Study Bibles.

The pages of this Bible feels nice yet strong and prevent marking bleeding. The paper quality very good has a unique feel. I use a red lead and black ink, it does not bleed through. There are pages for notes, and colorful maps. The Simulated Leather covers hold up well. The Bibles are manufactured in the United states and China, my wife has one made in China and I have one made un the USA, there is no difference in the Bibles, both are identical in excellence of workmanship and quality.

I am exceptionally pleased with the translation and the Bible notes. I would recommend the Holman Christian Standard Bible for anyone from possible the fourth grade with parents help to adults no matter what the age. What a fantastic wonderful blessing to have the Holman Christian Bible. I love it!

Holman has made exceptional Bible, superior to most other Bibles. The Holman Christian Standard Bible is praiseworthy. However the Concordance lacks some basic words one expects, thus making it incomplete inadequate. I find it frustrating that Holman put such a very limited Concordance, with uniquely wonderful Bible Translation. Holman desperately needs a more complete concordance, to go with the best Bible I have known.

Q: Concordance Has the concordance changed in the newer editions of the HCSB Study Bible? Is it larger and more comprehensive?

A:

Yes, this Bible features a more indepth, standard concordance as opposed to the Topical Index found in older editions of the HCSB Study Bible.

Q: Is Yahweh used for the name of God? In other Bibles Yahweh is not used. I hope this Bible does. Does it?

A:

The translation "Yahweh" is used in the HCSB in places where the personal name of God is discussed or in places of His self-identification.
