I have read many of Ronie Kendig's books and love them all. This one is no exception. Ronie is an amazingly talented writer. Her characters are well defined and her stories make you feel like you are there in the middle of the action. Ronie gives us an insight into the lives of the Special Forces Opts, the hero's and the danger's they face on each assignment. This is the second book in the Quiet Professional's series. Fast paced action, with suspense, mystery, some romance and terrorists.

The main character is Staff Sergeant Brian Bledsoe nicknamed Hawk. He is skilled, courageous and a man who keeps his word but also very hot headed and filled with anger which worries his superiors. Hawk is assigned to track down the computer hackers who are giving them wrong intel information that endangers the military fighting forces.

Fekiria Haidary is a pilot for the Afghan Air Force which has estranged her from her family and she is keeping too many secrets and covering them up with lies.

After an encounter with Fekiria and her friend who are trying to protect some young girls from the Taliban they flee to the mountains of Tera Pass where they face freezing weather and many dangers.

Upon learning about a threat to Raptor he is torn between helping his team and saving Fekiria and the girls.

If you like stories about the military, suspense and intrigue, this book is a must read. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading the next installment of this series.

I received a free copy of the book from bookfun.org for my honest opinion and review.

I think I've read every one of Ronie Kendig's books. As a military wife I can associate with so much of the life of these men and women. The characters are very real and their situations evoke both fear, sadness, and relief when resolved. The enemy seems to have leaped off the headlines we read everyday. Can't wait for the next book.

Hawk the second book in The Quiet Professionals series. I

had no trouble reading it as a stand alone as I have not read

    the first book.

This story is action packed, moves fast and contains a lot of

    harsh reality.

The story contains many twists, unexpected turns and

    Shocking surprises.

The author gets inside the heads of the characters and

presents them to the reader so you understand the inner

workings of all involved.the main two characters and the

terrorist plus Raptor 6 team members and other American

    military.

The terrorist are cutting into the American communications.

The terrorist are giving orders that are endangering the

American troops especially the Raptor 6 team members.

This tracking to find the ghost hacker takes Raptor's

communications expert, Staff Sergeant Brian "Hawk" Bledsoe

into the middle of Afghanistan. He finds himself faced with a

dual problem of having to find the hackers and saving an female

Muslim pilot ( Fekiria Haidary), her teacher friend and some

children refuges hiding from the Taliban. This involves taking

them up into the mountains during a major snow storm.

Description is deftly woven into the story. I felt I was right

    there in each scene.

The tension was thick and well-sustained. Every turn gave the

    reader something unexpected.

Thank you to book fun.org for this book. My opinion is my own.

Confession time: Hawk is the first book I have read by Ronie Kendig. It will certainly not be my last. Starting off, I was not sure the first few chapters in if I was going to enjoy this one. I do not read a lot of military fiction and there were a lot of characters to keep track of and some military lingo I was not familiar with. That being said, Ronie does provide us with a glossary of terms and acronyms as well as a character list including a sundry character list. All of these lists were quite useful. This is the second in the series of The Quiet Professionals and I did not read book one. Even though I think this book stands well alone, I would have been more familiar with the team if I had read book one. However, after reading this one, I am now anxious to get my hands on the first one, Raptor 6 and especially the third, Falcon, which will be out later this year.

There came a point in the story that there was no going back for me. It grabbed a hold of me and I stayed up way too late (2:30 in the morning late) just to reach the conclusion. The bad guys, and there seemed to be a mess of them, were all over the place bad. Hawk, our hero, was my favorite good guy. This is mostly his story and even with all his temper, smart mouth, and his genuine genius (ness), he was a hero that would not, could not give up. He is probably (if I had a list) at the top of my book hero list. Our heroine, Fekiria, gave us a birds eye view of being an Afghan woman raised in a very strict family trying to make her way in a world where women are viewed as property.

I really ended up enjoying Ms. Kendigs storytelling. At first there seemed to be many different story threads happening in this one book, but when she tied all of them together.BOOM!!! I am a new fan.

I received my review copy from The Book Club Network, Inc. (TBCN) and the opinions stated are my own honest ones.
