Author/Artist Review

Author: (Barbara) Jean Harris Anderson
Submitted: November 11, 2019

Tell us a little about yourself.  I’m a Christian artist and author, which means that in all my creative work truth is evident. I focus on detail, and using symbols enables me to communicate in layers - offering several messages. That is the way I paint and write, showing and telling on multiple levels. And this story, you will find, has many dimensions.

What was your motivation behind this project?  Witnessing the decline of civilization amidst our world’s advanced technical and scientific expansion caused me to ask why our civilized system was collapsing. I found myself reflecting on imagery from ancient texts, and knew the studies in humanities and science had prepared me to make an assessment and express it in my own form of apocalyptic literature.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  BELIEVABILITY - so convinced in Heaven and Hades that readers will be prepared for whatever comes, whether it be persecution, deprivation, or the Heavenly. INSIGHT - we lounge in current trends, dependent on modern conventions to exercise command over our beliefs. My story is Biblically based. My attempt is to comprehend the future from a Christian theological perspective.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  I learned so much! Research for writing this story showed evidence that a dehumanization process had already begun, changing the human image, away from God. It is presented as part of creating utopia, but I saw a scheme in progress to reconstruct society by compartmentalizing people based on “new eugenics,” all to become instruments of the human sum total. My interest in bioethics was relevant in discovering that a centralized government will control everything by way of medical, scientific, and technical advancements. It was my years of study in eschatology that showed me this direction is toward end times.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  Aldous Huxley stated, “The most richly satisfying essays are those which make the best not of one, not of two, but of all three worlds in which it is possible for the essay to exist.”

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  This densely written story is a coalescence of the good and bad dynamics of medicine, science, synthetic biology, and technology - presenting a unique angle running throughout the series in just how imperialism will be implemented by bureaucratic means under the authority of the antichrist.
