Publisher's Description

Jael of Rogan, a young healer-woman known as the Lady of the Haven, has no idea who she's pulled from the rain-swollen river when a wounded warrior practically falls into her arms. Her healing skills and deep faith in God combine to snatch William, Prince of Coldthwaite, from the brink of death only to learn that the peril to his life is far from over. Forced to flee her home, Jael races to a far off land. Pursued, captured, relentlessly interrogated, her life is in danger nearly from the start. Here in this strange land, amidst a deadly struggle, Jael comes face to face with a truth she never suspected. Perhaps the power she'd attributed to the haven lay within her all along. But can she, an outcast, ever hope to gain the heart of the prince?

This is a book that gabs your attention from the start. One that you don't want to put down. A wonderful read. A story of faith, dangers, evil, triumph over evil, twists and turns and love. Betty Thomason Owens has written a fantastic and very enjoyable story. Believable and amazing characters.

Jael of Rogan is known as the Lady of the Haven. She is a healer and has a strong faith in God. One day she discovers a mortally wounded warrior in the Verani River and rescues him. He is William, Prince of Coldthwaite. She takes him to her home and nurses him back to health with her healing skills and God's Grace. She helps William escape by leading him to the disappearing trail known only to the Rogan family. But his life is still in peril. As he leaves he gives Jael his ring to use to find him whenever she is in danger and needs his protection. Being an unmarried woman she is unable to remain in her home after her father dies. Evil men in the community with orders from the cruel leader Lundar Cheek and the Magistrate go and capture Jael and take her to Torlin to torture and kill her. She is able to flee her home when the men set fire to the house and heads to the disappearing trail where she begins a treacherous journey through the Touri Mountians in search of William. Facing so many dangers on this long journey will she be able to find William?

I highly recommend this book and hope to read the other two books in this series.

The Lady of the Haven is an awesome book. I enjoyed it tremendously. It is book one in the Jael of Rogan series but it can be read as a stand alone. It is an adventure, suspense, and romance all in one book. The characters and story line keep you wanting for more. I could not wait to read the next book in the series.

I received the book from the Book Club Network in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is a wonderful novel that was an absolute delight to read. The intertwining of the story with the lives of the two main characters, Jael of Rogan, a young healer-woman known as the Lady of the Haven, and William, Prince of Coldthwaite, is amazing. This is an adventure story, a romance, and a story of faith all rolled into one. There is enough detail to enable the reader to clearly envision each scene, but not so much that the story bogs down. Characters are fleshed out, relationships are built, and the plot has many twists and turns. You will enjoy it!

In case youre wondering, even though this is Book 1 of the Jael of Rogan series, the author doesnt leave anything hanging. This book has a great ending! However, having said that, you still may want to continue to book two of the series to see what else awaits Jael of Rogan.

The Book Club Network gave me this book in eBook form in exchange for my honest opinion, which I have given.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Lady of the Haven; a Jael of Rogan Novel by Betty Thomason Owens which is the first in a series of three books. Jael Rogan is the remaining survivor of her family and has lived all her life in Verani Haven near the Verani River, an area of land controlled by an evil Magistrate ruler, Torin Dugold . She believes and depends on the God Jehovah for protection and guidance singing his psalms in the ancient language daily. One morning she observes a body at the base of Verani Falls and rescues from the river a young warrior, William, who is the Prince of Coldthwaite, an enemy of the ruler. He is near death from wounds and the fall, but Jael who is a healer, considered a witch by some, hides him in her house and by the grace of God nurses him back to health. Her father saved the King years before by leading him to a disappearing trail known only by the Rogan family to escape the haven. William remembers the story and admires the beautiful Jael and her ways mentioning to her about being a Christian. What is a Christian? She has always believed and served Jehovah. Who is this Jesus? On regaining his health, Jael leads William to the disappearing trail. He gives her his ring and tells her that anytime she needs protection to use the ring to find him. Shortly after his departure, the men of the community under the leadership of the cruel Lundar Cheek and orders of the Magistrate come to capture Jael to take her to Torlin where she will be tortured and killed. Hiding in the caves below her home, she escapes death as the men set her house on fire. Thus, begins her long treacherous journey over the Touri Mountains during the winter to find Williams home. Shinder, a famous tracker, has been sent by the Magistrate to find Jael and bring her back to him. The Tracker is known for always finding his man. Will Shinder be able to capture Jael? Is she too crafty and strong? Will Jael ever find William and there be a future between royalty and a commoner? She loves God, but can she understand and accept Jesus? This book has adventure, twists and turns, with a surprise ending. Definitely an enjoyable read, and I am looking forward to reading the other two books in this series. I received a copy from the author and publisher of The Book Club Network in exchange for an honest review.

The Lady of Haven, Jael of Rogan***** book 1 by Betty Thomason Owens

Jael Rogan of Verani Haven, is a young healer-woman who is known far and wide as the Lady of Haven. Her beloved father, Jonathan, has recently died leaving her aloneand in danger. Since she is unmarried, she cannot claim the land and home she loves. Before she can leave and go into hidingagain, she finds a gravely wounded warrior in the rain-swollen river and rescues him. Taking him to her humble home, she relies on God and her healing skills to care for this man. Who is he and will he survive?

William, Prince of Coldthwaite, awakens to strange surroundingshe is not alone. Who is this young woman who is caring for him? As he regains his strength he learns Jael is also in danger and offers her aid if ever she would be in need of his help. But William must leave soon as he is still in danger himself. Jael leads William through the mysterious disappearing trail so he can escape. Will he ever see her again? When the danger arrives at her door, Jael is forced to flee her home and begins her long journey to the far-off land of the warrior. Will he remember the promise he gave her for her safety? Surprising, unexpected truths are revealed, a truth Jael never dreamed of.

Wow, this is an amazing book! I loved Jael and William. The struggles, challenges, twists and turns, unexpected surprises, danger and evil intentions they endured had me turning the pages long into the night. We also read of their joys, sorrows, triumphs, tragedies, honor and more. I like the strong faith in God that is woven throughout the story. I grew fond of most of William's family. One family member I would liked to have had a serious talking to about their attitude. I hope to see more of this family in the next book, A Gathering of Eagles.
