Jenkins (the Left Behind series) and Fabry (the Left Behind: The Kids series) temporarily leave behind their previous projects for this action-packed series for middle-graders. Thirteen-year-old twins Bryce and Ashley are starting to take to their new life in Colorado as part of their blended family, which now includes stepfather Sam and a teenage stepsister. After all, who wouldn't want to ride ATV's to school instead of the bus? Ashley and Bryce have typical teen concerns, too: grappling with bullies at school and struggling with when to share your Christian beliefs with friends (and the stand it may force one to take). But on a weekend adventure with Sam to a nearby Gold Rush-era exhibit, things get out of control in a hurry. The Timberline clan is inadvertently drawn into a burglary scheme that has them warding off a stalker and fighting for their lives. Jenkins and Fabry know their way around a suspenseful tale, and readers will enjoy taking the roller-coaster ride with this realistic family. Ashley's occasional discussions of her Christian faith are not center stage, but still an essential, believable part of her character, allowing readers an open door to ponder their own beliefs while enjoying a good yarn. Ages 8-12. (May) Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.

CassandraMaineAge: 18-24Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5good bookMarch 9, 2015CassandraMaineAge: 18-24Gender: femaleI loved this book! I figured out who was involved in stealing the gold and trying to kill Ashley, Bryce, their little brother, and Sam, but I did not see the last part coming. Also, things like bullying and watching bad movies, which are often a problem in our society, were addressed.
AdventuresinOdysseyLover4 Stars Out Of 5Great Book!September 3, 2014AdventuresinOdysseyLoverQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5This book was really interesting, I liked how it switched back and forth from Bryce to Ashley's account and back again. The climax is the best part - I don't want to ruin it but this series, especially the first and last books, has some really interesting parts. :) All in all, it was great!
HomeSchool Mom of 4The Hot Dry DesertAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Average Preteen FictionAugust 26, 2014HomeSchool Mom of 4The Hot Dry DesertAge: 25-34Gender: femaleI tried this book when looking for fiction for my twins who are 9. The fact that these kids are also twins appealed to me, not to mention the fact that the series is written by Jerry B. Jenkins, the author of the Left Behind books. I just couldn't get into this story, though, and can't imagine my kids would, either (they're more into funny characters and books that involve animals). Perhaps other children would like the series, but we enjoyed Left Behind: The Kids, Winnie, the Horse Whisperer, and TJ and the Time Stumblers much more and recommend them, instead. However, try the book yourself--or at least read the first couple chapters before you take my word for it. I give it 3 stars because there's nothing exactly wrong with it; just not up our alley but nothing exceptional enough to redeem it.
jsrn184 Stars Out Of 5True mystery!August 24, 2014jsrn18Intriguing christian mystery for kids. Teaches kids about what it means to be a Christian and how to properly live in God's eyes. Good for older kids who won't be scared by some of the action in the book.
