Read the exciting story of how Calvary Chapel has grown. Coming from all walks of life, ten Calvary Chapel pastors share how God broke through the barriers of evil, pride, addiction, complacency and anger to carry out His plan for this vital ministry.
Bill Van HornColorado5 Stars Out Of 5March 11, 2010Bill Van HornColoradoInspirational. God can use anyone. God can even use individuals who have made a mess of their lives. Some of these dudes were REALLY messed up. Each chapter tells the story of a unique person. Each of these individuals is now being powerfully used by God. These were folks who were extremely different, yet each followed certain principles to get to where they are now. Those are principles that are available to me--or to you.
Jake5 Stars Out Of 5April 20, 2009JakeThis is one of my favorite books. These are the testimonies of pastors before they were even saved. It tells about how God pulled them out of the pit and into salvation.
Mary Ann5 Stars Out Of 5June 26, 2008Mary AnnChuck Smith gives an inspirational history of how Calvary Chapel got started in the 1960s. The first three chapters and the last, of this 13-chapter book, are Chucks thoughts, memories, ideas and encouragements about the ministry and the beginnings of Calvary Chapel. He highlights these beginnings with the stories of nine C.C. pastors who were broken hippy kids, but who are now part of the harvesting ministry today. Some of the pastors come from backgrounds of lost family members, crime, drugs, loneliness, the occult, murder and demon possession. But their stories end with lives reflecting Gods mercy through the love of Jesus Christ.List of pastors: Greg Laurie, Raul Ries, Mike MacIntosh, Jon Courson, Jeff Johnson, Skip Heitzig, Steve Mays, Bil Gallatin, and Joe Focht.
J5 Stars Out Of 5June 13, 2008JA fascinating book explaining how Jesus Christ changed men whose lives were troubled, some beyond hope. These transformed men continue to reach multiplied thousands more with the Gospel. They disciple these believers by teaching the Bible verse by verse, relying on the power of God rather than the wisdom of man. Gen 50:20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; [but] God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as [it is] this day, to save much people alive.
christa maletta5 Stars Out Of 5March 7, 2008christa malettaWhen you start reading this book you don't want be able to put it down until you're done.I loved to hear all the stories of how God worked in and thru Pastor Chuck and all those young men. This is also a good book to share to witness to someone what God can do with someone that is yielding their life to God.
