Publisher's Description

Cinderella. Snow White. Sleeping Beauty. Rapunzel. These beloved stories all conclude with, ". . .and they lived happily ever after." We sigh, smile, and know there’s an amazing story of love, adventure, and redemption coming.
We all yearn for a fairy tale life, but too often our existence feels less like the pages of a storybook and more like a bad reality TV show. From poisoned apples (sin) and Ugly Stepsisters (joy-stealers) to magic mirrors (real beauty is more than skin-deep) and glass slippers (God’s perfect calling for us), the truth is that as daughters of God, we can live the perfect story the Author has written for our lives—we can experience the happily ever after that He has penned for us, now, regardless of our circumstances!
Writer, speaker, and surrogate fairy godmother Ginger Kolbaba offers encouragement, challenges, biblical insights, and a little humor on how God wants us to live and love our stories in the here and now.

Editorial Reviews

"Happily Ever After is for women who have longed to be a main character in their own fairy tale but have been left outside the pages because of the severity of life or their own choices. Ginger Kolbaba, in her unique come-along-side style, opens her arms to those who are hurting and offers them a new look at fairy tales and renewed hope. With refreshing vulnerability, Ginger encourages women to set their eyes on the eternal Bridegroom so they can experience His joy in a new way."

—Sheila Seifert, Editorial Director of Parenting, Thriving Family, Focus on the Family

"Reading Your Best Happily Ever After was like spending time with an encouraging girlfriend over coffee! Speaking straight to our princess hearts, Ginger Kolbaba uses humor and great insights to help us discover God’s incredible love for each of us. Curl up with a warm mug and get ready to enjoy!"

Sherry Surratt, CEO and President, MOPS International

"Ginger Kolbaba spins happily-ever-after tales into both practical and spiritual examinations of how our heart can find happiness. While cleverly grabbing all the familiar parts of the most famous happily-every-afters, don't be fooled. This book digs deeper than ball gowns and fairy godmothers. It's rich with scripture and stories from the Bible and her own personal experience, helping us understand God's true desire for our own happy ending, not to mention the day-to-day joy we desperately desire. Ditch the poisoned apple, as she says, and learn to flourish the way God intended. Highly recommended!"

-Rene Gutteridge, author of Old Fashioned

"Your Best Happily Ever After is a whimsical balance of wisdom and entertainment. I watched my own life unfold on each page. It was as though Ginger and I were talking over a cup of coffee and decadent dessert. Ginger held the hand of my generation while she directed a new movie that entertains, encourages, and teaches a younger crowd. I finished the book with a sigh of satisfaction and a determination to make my own life better. My hope is that leaders in all fields will promote this book. It has the potential to change lives as well as change families and communities. It empowers women to be their best even if we aren’t followed by singing bluebirds or helpful dwarfs. It will encourage you, strengthen your resolve, and make you feel as though you can ride your own white horse into a happily-ever-after designed just for you."
-Debbie Jansen, family specialist and author of Scriptures against Abuse

"If you've ever been disappointed, disillusioned, or discouraged, then Ginger Kolbaba's words are for you. Life may not be a fairy tale, but it can still be full of hope, redemption, and adventure with the God who is our ultimate true love. We're part of a deeper, wilder story than we can even imagine, and the best is yet to be."

-Holley Gerth, bestselling author of You’re Already Amazing

"Embracing a happy life includes dealing with the poisoned apples, toxic people, and our own disappointing fairytales. Ginger shows us how to rewrite our stories by developing resilience, taking more risks, and accepting our uniqueness. I'm so grateful for her support to fully live the best years of our lives!"

"We all long for happiness, but we all deal with the hard stuff of life at one time or another. How do we balance the "happily ever after" dream with the reality of life? Ginger lovingly shows us how on the pages of this book.  I loved it, and I know you will too!"

Jill Savage, CEO of Hearts at Home, author No More Perfect Moms

"Don't believe the lie that misery is next to godliness! Ginger shows us that God loves laughing over us and wants us to giggle, too! Here's her happiness roadmap--using fairytales as her guide--to show us that we can catch hold of that abundant life. But we won't find happiness by pasting a plastic smile to our faces. We'll find it by growing up and being honest before God--and ourselves. So don't make stupid decisions. Be God's princess and live happily-ever-after instead!"

Sheila Wray Gregoire, author of 9 Thoughts That Can Change Your Marriage

"With wonderful wit and wisdom, Ginger Kolbaba weaves fairy-tale wonder, real-life struggles, and timeless biblical nuggets of hope that move a reader toward her own "happily ever after." Your Best Happily Ever After is a delight to read. . .but even better, a delight to apply to our own love stories!"

In Your Best Happily Ever After, Ginger Kolbaba argues that happily ever after is not a fairy tale; its a choice. (p. 305) She uses real life examples, wisdom from other writers and the Bible, and lighthearted humor to encourage her readers that happily ever after really is a possibility for each of us, and shows us how to choose it in small but significant ways. At first, I was put off by the humorous asides she uses to season her serious remarks, but Kolbaba snagged my interest and helped me rethink some of my own behavior. I especially appreciated her discussion of rest, thankfulness, and joy. Ill be putting her suggestions into practice. (Note: I was given a free copy in exchange for this honest review.)

This book had me simply by the title. Of course I had heard many stories that ended, "happily ever after," and who hasn't dreamed about finding theirs? So when I had the opportunity to receive the book in exchange for a honest review, I jumped! Then I got the book and found two added surprises purple font and crinkle edge pages which only added to the charm of this book. Now to the really good stuff, the actual book. Ginger Kolbaba takes the fairy tale stories, real life, and scripture and explains how we can find our own happily ever after. What I gained and loved the most from this book is this - no, life and our story isn't perfect like in the fairy tales but rather as Ginger writes it is a choice that we make to find and have our best happily ever after with God.

I grew up loving fairy tales - and, while the characters can go through all kinds of trials and difficulties, I still want the fiction I read to have that "happily ever after" ending. However, it doesn't take long to realize that any similarity between real life and fairy tales comes to a screeching halt at "The End.". . . But wait! There's a spiritual HEA that's available to every Christian, yet I suspect many aren't sure how to avail themselves of all that God freely gives for our daily walk. These spiritual blessings come during and in spite of life's dark times, and that's exactly what Ginger brings out in this book. Your Best Happily Ever After is not a book about marriage, but rather a book of life lessons, relationship lessons applicable to any situation.

First of all, the physical book is lovely in style, pages similar to popular devotional books with uneven edges, really appealing to hold in your hands. Each chapter revolves around a particular fairy tale or character, draws from applicable Scripture, and ends with points upon which to reflect. I don't think I've ever seen such an ingenious concept for a practical Christian living book! Who knew such impactful spiritual lessons could be drawn from Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Snow White? Ginger's style is to capture your attention with her engaging prose, relatable personal stories, hilarious sense of humor, and then drive home her point. After reading this, I believe I'd pick up anything Ginger writes.

One thought that stood out to me is how "God answers our prayers by giving us opportunities to grow into those answers." For example, we might pray for patience, only to have God give us opportunities to show patience. And drawn from the story of Ruth in the Old Testament, "Faith is choosing, when we can't see the outcome, to believe that God will not let us fall."

While this book is certainly applicable to anyone, no matter where they are in their faith journey, I almost think it should be required reading for older teens, college age and young adults in general. Actually, I even think men would enjoy and benefit from it. Your Best Happily Ever After would make a great graduation gift.

    Highly recommended.

Thank you to Barbour Publishing for providing a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

How is one to be happy despite the twists and turns of life? With tongue in cheek humor, even in the footnotes, Ginger points us to the author of all happiness, God.

I loved that she used Grimm's version of fairy tales to relate her message to modern day women. This book made me think, laugh and pray.

Sometimes books such as this are dry and uninteresting; not so with this one! Your Best Happily Ever After held my attention and my mind from the first page. And the cover is gorgeous!

Furthermore, this is my first encounter with Ginger Kolbaba and I look forward to more of the same.
