Product Description

When Dr Joy Gilbert finds herself fired from a lucrative, yet much hated, job in the city, she returns to her hometown of Juliet, Missouri. Once home, she finds her former fiance, Zack, single; her independent mother, Molly, struggling both financially and physically; and then there is Tressa, a stowaway who also happens to be the 15-year-old daughter of the boss who just fired her.

Tressa refuses to return to the city, where her divorced parents continue to battle in the fallout of her brother's death. The girl's rebellion threatens Joy's career, but that means nothing when it appears Tressa's parents may lose another child. Will Joy and Zack be able to work together again in time to save Tressa's life?

This is my first book by this husband and wife writing team and I wanted to keep reading to discover the outcome. This book deals with real life issues of health, death of a child, single parenthood, etc It also shows how the church can hurt people by being judgmental and how our faith can see us through all the hurts and disappointments of life. I look forward to book 2 in this series. I found the characters believable and true to life.

I won a copy of this book.

I was given Hallowed Halls by Hannah Alexander and was asked for my honest review. The story is one of healing broken relationships, medical suspense and has just the right amount of romance. The characters are well developed and believable. I will be reading more books by this author.

The characters of Hallowed Halls pop off the page and insert themselves into your heart. I loved Tress especially. The subtle use of sarcasm made the story more realistic to me. This novel reiterates the importance of honest communication, and that making assumptions about something can cause a lot of problems.

I was completely surprised by the number of incidental grammatical errors--a missing letter in the middle of a word or a word that was left out completely. While these didn't detract from the goodness of the story, they were distracting for a grammar nerd like myself.

I received this book from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Joy Gilbert is a doctor from a small town, who cares to much about everyone around her. Her ex-fiance Zach, is a doctor at the hospital in the town where Joy is from, who hasn't stopped caring for Joy since she left, and to top it all off Weston Cline, Joy's new employer, has made it clear to those around her that he is expecting more in their relationship than what is normal between employer and employee.

As Weston's background becomes more clear to Joy, she pulls back from any relationship with him, but his teenage daughter has become a close friend of Joy's, so she continues to see the daughter and offer what friendship she can. When Joy get some devastating news and heads home to her mother, more devastation is piled on top. Joy is determined to make the best of what she can of the relationship between herself and her mother, but Molly is not the easiest person to get along with. As they learn to love and appreciate each other for what they are, Joy's relationship with Zach is brought again to the front, and they are slowly working toward forgiveness. Will forgiveness be easy to find, or will they continue to battle it out? As the health of Joy's young friend Tressa is suddenly thrust to the forefront, can an entire family learn to move past the embers of past flames and move forward to new relationships?

This was a great read!! I read through the entire book in about three hours and enjoyed the entire thing! I fell in love with a couple of the characters and found myself giggling at some of the antics that went on between the pages. Great clean read!
