Publisher's Description

Are you ready to move into the second half of your life?

Bob Buford believes the second half of your life can be better than the first. Much better. But first, you need time to figure out what you want to do with the rest of your life.

In Halftime, Buford focuses on this important time of transition—the time when, as he says, a person moves beyond the first half of the game of life. It’s halftime, a time of revitalization and for catching a new vision for living the second half, the half where life can be lived at its most rewarding. As Buford explains, "My passion is to multiply all that God has given me, and in the process, give it back."

Features of this newly updated and expanded 20th Anniversary edition include a foreword by Jim Collins, the bestselling author of Good to Great; new questions for reflection or discussion at the end of each chapter; brand new "halftime" stories of men and women enjoying a second half of significance; specific halftime assignments to guide readers into their second-half mission; an essay by Bob on "The Wisdom of Peter Drucker"; a special update from the author on how the halftime movement is growing nationally, and links to outstanding resources.

Halftime is a great book that hits the mark for me and many professionals with whom I associate. I find that many of my friends in senior roles in the corporate world are frustrated. The scramble to the "top" in the corporate sense is often painful and always consuming. Many of us, without realizing it lose the balance between God, family, work, and the personal aspects of our lives. The result is frustration, stress, often broken families, and an emptiness plagued by the question, "What am I missing?". Bob Buford has been there and come through to the other side to a life of significance (and success). In his book, he provides an insightful understanding of the root of the problem that is enlightening to many of us, provides a roadmap for thinking through what God has created each of us to do, and provides inspiration to move on to significance in the second half. I've given away a couple dozen copies to friends and associates already. I'm looking forward to participating in a launch event in April.

This book helps the mature reader get his bearings and it can also help the reader who "is not quite there" anticipate what will happen to him when he gets there.

The concept of life has two halves, and one can perform poorly in the first part but finish strong in the second, or vice versa, is a helpful paradigm.I've recommended this book to friends at this stage in life.
