Ruth was a real person who lived in ancient times and her life was not an easy one. Ruth wasnt even an Israelite at first; she was a Moabite. Ruths husband dies, along with his brother and as well as his father. Naomi, Ruths mother-in-law, decides to return to Israel and tells both of her daughters-in-law to go back to their fathers home, because she has nothing more to give them. Plus Naomi is hoping they can remarry and find happiness.

So why doesnt Ruth do as Naomi bids? Why does she cling to her mother-in-law and return with her to care for her in a land not her own to a people she knows little about? Well, the five habits the author draws from the book of Ruth found in the Old Testament might help you unearth the heart behind Ruths choices.

Yes, there is a video that is available for the study, but not necessary to have in order to do the study. I liked that part a lot. In the video session, sheets are distributed with questions to stimulate discussion on a personal level. If people choose, they can take notes from the video lesson. Then, there are questions for people to talk about as to what was learned and how it can be applied to individual lives.

There is homework that will enhance and enlighten the past to show us how it can and does impact our lives today. At the end of each week is something called Q.U.I.T. strategy that helps us put feet to what our hearts and minds have been touched by. After all, what good would it be if we just gathered head knowledge without walking out what God has spoken to our hearts to do?

5 Habits of a Woman Who Doesn't Quit is a book that left me encouraged and challenged. I walked away really appreciating the honesty and transparency that Nicki Koziarz shared within the pages of the book. She didn't hesitate to share the good and the bad. I look for authors who are transparent and honest because I know they aren't afraid to share their struggles. That encourages me so much.

Nicki Knoziarz takes the book of Ruth and brings out something in it that I've never seen: Ruth was not a quitter. She could have been, but she did not. I never really noticed that aspect of Ruth. She has 5 habits that she has found through Ruth:

Habit One: She accepts the assignment of refinement.

Habit Two: She follows through with her commitments despite how she feels.

Habit Three: She stays open to the movement of God.

Habit Four: She gives others what she needs.

Habit Five: She moves forward in faith.

There so many nuggets of wisdom throughout this book. I loved the part on comparison because I am easily intimidated when I compare myself to others. Then I shy away from what I know God has called me to do because I begin to compare myself to others who are doing something similar.

Another thing I loved was when she talked about giving people what you need. That has stuck with me in the heat of my frustrations... and it even works with my children, too!

This book would make a great book for women to use as a study. It offers many opportunities to be real, honest, and transparent: something I know that so many women are looking for today.

This is a good book to read if you need a boost to persevere. Maybe there is a tough job project or you need to lose weight. Koziarz has gleaned five habits from the book of Ruth that will encourage you to persevere.

This is not a book about productivity. You won't find any techniques to help you prioritize or meet your goals. This book it about your attitudes. You are given five attitudes to have if you are going to persevere and not quit.

I'll give a couple so you can see the idea of the book. The first attitude is that you must be willing to be refined by God. God may very well mix things up in your life so that you can grow through it. It may mean adversity or some other tough experience. Koziarz encourages you to embrace the process. It is what God uses to remove impurities and improve your character.

Another habit is staying open to the movement of God. Your day (or your life) may not be going the way you had planned. Maintaining this habit means having attitudes of humility and surrender.

Koziarz tells lots of stories about her own experiences to illustrate the five habit areas. The book is very readable with bits if humor to lighten up the serious topics. At the end of each chapter are quotes to remember and challenging questions.

This is a soul searching book to see if you have the attitudes that make for a woman who perseveres. If you identify yourself as a quitter, you will find some encouragement to evaluate your attitudes and change them. I would have liked to see more practical steps and suggestions as to how one's attitudes can be changed. At the end of the book I understood what attitudes I should have but was lacking a plan to get them incorporated into my life. There is additional material available videos and study books. I would think working through this book in a group setting would be much better than trying to do it solo.

I received a complimentary copy of this book through Icon Media for the purpose of an independent and honest review.

When I first read the title of this book, I knew I wanted it! I feel I have a history of being a quitter, although it's never my intention to quit and wasn't sure where this stemmed from. Did I have some kind of underlying "shiny object syndrome" or something? I was able to read this whole book in one day, not because it was weak or watered down, but because it was so easy to read and relatable--as though the author was sitting across the table from me with a cup of coffee or tea and telling me about her own personal history of quitting and how God has shaped her over the years.

I came away understanding where my history of quitting stems and now look forward to being able to walk forward, trusting that God will be there to oversee and guide my paths.
