Editorial Reviews

"Whether you like sports, football, or the University of Texas, Growing Up Colt is a great read—a behind-the-scenes look at the biggest milestones in the life of one of the game's bright young stars. But don’t let that fool you. This is more than a typical sports book, and its author is more than your average NFL quarterback. Colt McCoy is the real deal, a Christ-centered young man committed to living with integrity, pursuing excellence, and bringing glory to God. In this book, Colt and his father Brad invite you into their lives and share the key principles and big decision that have defined their family—things like high expectations, hard work, and doing what's right. A powerful tribute to Christ, family, and football, we highly recommend Growing Up Colt for all ages."

Alex and Brett Harris
Authors of Do Hard Things

"Colt and Brad McCoy have plenty to say about football, Texas, and family.  They have even more to say about faith.  What they have to say is worth hearing: it could change the way you parent your kids, love your spouse, and live your life."

 Max Lucado
 Pastor and bestselling author

"I love Colt McCoy’s football skills, but I also love his intangibles—his faith, his leadership, his commitment to the people around him. Now you can find out exactly how this Cleveland Browns quarterback went from a small Texas high school and reached the highest level of the NFL."

Roger Staubach
Hall of Fame Quarterback, Dallas Cowboys

Handing off the narrative to each other as they march downfield, McCoy and his father Brad offer a glimpse into how a small-town Texan was able to realize his big-league ambitions in this intimate look at how one football-obsessed family has successfully navigated their way to the NFL. Sure, it helped that Brad was a respected high-school football coach, but his 24-year-old Evangelical Christian son would have readers believe that it was the Almighty who really pushed him across the goal line. That fact should be understood at the outset-the fiercely devout McCoys are on a mission and proselytizing. The younger McCoy never misses an opportunity to sling a Bible verse at readers.

If that kind of thing turns you off, look elsewhere. But if you're down with the program, or just want to know more about the new hope of the Cleveland Browns offense, then this conversational account of Colt's rise to the top should suffice.

I highly recommend Growing Up Colt for football fans everywhere, but especially for those who follow the Browns' team.  And I recommend the book for its parental principles.  For anyone seeking to live a strong Christian faith, Growing Up Colt might just be the inspirational book a reader has been searching for.
