Easy to use and learn from

This is a fantastic resource to use for kids to learn the different parts of speech etc. It does especially well if you're also teaching I.E.W's Structure and Style, it compliments it very well.

We also do Classical Conversations, and we use this in lieu of CC's editing pages instead as we much prefer the layout of this.

I've used this curriculum for years. Four of my children have used this so far. Bought it for child #5 and I am so disappointed. The story has been rewritten and dumbed down. The vocab words are ridiculous.

Here is an example of the two different versions. (3rd edition, admittedly, I might have had 2nd edition with the other kids but i cant find it and ordered a replacement)

Week 1, day 4 : One evening their road brought them to a deep gloomy wood. (and the student had to choose the proper use of there/their/they're)

updated version: One evening they reached a dark forest.

old vocab word: gloomy

new vocab word: reached

This is incredibly disappointing. I imagine the change was made for younger grades but this is not at all what i was looking for.

If you've never used fix it grammar before this is still a unique curriculum and worth pursuing. if you are used to what it used to be, this is a step down. Im undecided as to how we will proceed.

The story is full of witchcraft: a dwarf, magic cloak to have someone's wish granted, magical things happening, etc. Didn't want to even read all of it. Very disappointing, didn't expect that after ordering from a Christian bookstore. As a believer I would certainly NOT recommend to let my kids read this stuff!!
