How close can we get to Jesus? How close do you want to get?
Six circles of relationship formed around Jesus in his time on earth. In the outermost circle, the Crowds who were curious. Next, the Five Thousand who were needy, while the Seventy worked and served in Jesus ministry; then came the Twelve who walked with Jesus, the Three who suffered and celebrated with him, and finally the One who sat beside him at the Last Supper. Jesus closest follower listened more closely than any other, and recognized the Savior when no one else did.
Scripture promises if you move closer to God, he will move closer to you. Wherever you are in your pursuit of Christ, you can draw closer still. In The One Jesus Loves, you will learn about each of the six circles, and what it takes to move further in, closer and closer to Jesus.
Which circle are you in today? Jesus is calling you closer.
"After reading The One Jesus Loves, youll not only understand how to deepen your relationship with God by drawing closer into His circle of intimacy, youll also see how becoming a closer follower of Christ can improve every other relationship in your life."
Mark Batterson, author of The Circle Maker and lead pastor of National Community Church
This book itself will be a gift to you. Robert Crosby has not just studied the costly grace of Jesus; he's lived it. This grace is a pool of fathomless depths. The deeper we go, the more healing we find.
John Ortberg, author of Who Is This Man? and senior pastor of Menlo Park Presbyterian Church

He looks at the different people who met Jesus in the Gospels and considers the nature of their relationship with Him. He suggests that there are six rings of relationships that gravitated around Jesus that are helpful for Christians as we try to get closer to Jesus.
Things I like about this book:
ââ¬Â¢ Robert Crosby is a great story teller and the book is easy to read.
ââ¬Â¢ The chapters are short and can be read in one sitting.
ââ¬Â¢ The conversation starters - questions for each chapter to be used in a small group, one-on-one or privately.
ââ¬Â¢ Robert Crosby is not frightened to quote from great writers. By doing this I was introduced to some writers I don't know and reminded of others writers I like. This gives me lots of other reading to pursue in the future.
ââ¬Â¢ Robert Crosby's explanation of what it means to be a follower of Jesus and his emphasis on the Lordship of Jesus.
ââ¬Â¢ The conclusion - I think this is the best chapter in the book.
Something I didn't like:
There were times when I was uncomfortable with how Robert Crosby handled the bible stories he retells in the book. In particular I was surprised by some of the applications he derived from the bible stories, and the way he extrapolated the feelings and experiences of the characters in the bible stories.
Who should read this?
As I said at the beginning, I think everyone I know wants to have a closer relationship with Jesus. This book might help you, especially if it encourages you to read His word and spend time with Him. It could also be a great book to use as you help another person to draw closer to Jesus, or as a gift to encourage him/her.
