Christians have long loved devotionals, but todays Christians are also developing a strong love for fiction. They want to read stories about characters they can relate to, who experience situations similar to their own, and learn from those examples how to live out their faith. For them, life lessons are more easily absorbed this way.
21 Days of Grace fits all of these needs. It is a collection of engaging, inspirational short fiction stories written by new, intermediate, and well-known authors including Angela Hunt, Deborah Raney, Cindy Woodsmall, Cecil Murphey, Robin Bayne, and more.
Like Jesus parables, these stories deal with important life issues in a subtle, unpressured manner. And, as Jesus did, the authors follow up with life applications based on the stories, suggesting how the inherent lessons can be applied to the readers daily life.

Tell us a little about yourself. I am a professional freelance editor and writers conference speaker. I'm the author of Proofreading Secrets of Best-Selling Authors and the compiler for 21 Days of Grace (and the other upcoming books in the Fiction-Lovers Devotional series). I am also the founder and director of two organizations for editorial freelancersThe Christian PEN: Proofreaders and Editors Network (TheChristianPEN.com) and the Christian Editor Connection (ChristianEditor.com). What was your motivation behind this project? I love Christian fiction! In addition to being entertained by the stories and characters, I always get something out of a Christian novel that applies to my faith and my everyday life. But with my busy schedule, reading an entire novel is often a bit of a challenge. And it doesn't seem right to read a novel during my quiet times with the Lord. I love the idea of being able to read short fiction stories, with life applications written by the authors, as part of my devotional time.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I know readers will enjoy these engaging stories. And I hope they will glean something from the stories and the life applications that will touch their hearts, strengthen their faith, and change their lives in some way. These books are an excellent opportunity for fiction lovers to read short stories written by authors they already love and also to sample the writings of fiction authors they haven't read before but who may become new favorites.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I've loved connecting with best-selling authors, multi-published authors, newer writers, and aspiring writers. God has spoken to my own heart as I've read many of their stories and life applications.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Too numerous to list or even count! Of course I love all the authors who contributed to this fiction-lover's devotional. I am also grateful to my agent, Diana Flegal, and my publisher, BroadStreet Publishing, for making this long-time dream happen.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I encourage you to visit our website, FictionDevo.com, or our Facebook page, facebook.com/fictiondevo. If one or more of the stories you read in a Fiction-Lover's Devotional has touched your heart in some way, you can post about it there. And you can read about how others have been moved by the stories.
