Publisher's Description

Dr. Peet is an ordained Minister with the Reformed Church in America. During his twenty-one years of Pastoral Ministry he served small membership congregations in New York and New Jersey as Installed Pastor and as Specialized Interim Minister. He retired at the end of 2008 from Second Reformed (Cobblestone) Church, Rotterdam, NY. His experiences in these churches gave him a hunger to understand "grace" and the depth of blessing God has for His children. Prior to entering Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, pursuing a Master of Divinity degree, Dr. Peet was involved in Christian Marriage Encounter and ministry at Homewood (IL) Reformed Church. His Doctor of Ministry is from Drew University where his dissertation was entitled, Passion and Spiritual Gifts: Keys to Revisioning the Life and Ministry of the Church. Dr. Peet and his wife, Charlotte, live on the southern edge of the Adirondack State Park. They have three children.Have you noticed that churches associated with Mainline Protestant denominations are in serious trouble? Have you noticed that many of these congregations have a declining, aging membership? Have you noticed that many of these congregations have virtually no youth or young children? Have you looked at the church and thought, "Mmmm The church is just another social club?"If you can answer, "Yes " to any of these questions and are interested in understanding what's happening, then Grace Robbers in just the book for you Grace Robbers, based on a series of sermons Dr. Peet presented at Second Reformed (Cobblestone) Church of Rotterdam, NY, considers some of the behaviors we as Christians and as Christians in community, allow into our lives that rob us of the fullest expression of God's grace. Grace Robbers include: Legalisms Traditionalism JudgementalismAnd the thousands of other actions that deny God's blessings to His children.
