I once heard Max Lucado speak and quickly became a fan. His straightforward ability caused me to sit still so as to not miss a bit of his important message. He writes the same way he talks. His books read as if he is speaking directly to the reader.

Each chapter contains Bible verses, Bible stories, and anecdotes from life. That alone makes the book worthwhile; however, Lucado goes to the next level--the Reader's Guide.

A unique feature about Grace is the Reader's Guide section. More than a list of questions, each chapter is thoroughly covered. There is a guide for chapter one, chapter two, etc. making the book a useful tool for personal or small group Bible study. Scripture is reviewed, life-changing questions are listed, a prayer is included, and life applications are given. This comprehensive section allows the reader to more deeply study and apply the biblical truths. I recommend this book!

This is the first Mac Lucado Bible study my study group has done and we are really enjoying it. We are considering another one when we finish it.

This a must for anyone who thinks there is "anything humanely possible" you can do...to earn your way to heaven! You can't do it... because God did it All. It's DONE! Ephesians 2: 1-10 tells the whole story, but the takeaway verses for me are verses are verses 4-5:

4."But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5. made us alive in Christ even when we were dead in our transgressions---- it is by Grace you have been saved."

Does anyone know a dead person who can do one single thing? They can't even take a breath.

The sub-title of the book and Guide is: MORE THAN WE DESERVE ...GREATER THAN WE CAN IMAGINE

The Participant's Guide is great for a small group study... (the book is a must). The questions in the guide give opportunities for those using it in groups or even individually, to put their thoughts on paper... like when I journal... I can look back to see if I indeed, I have grasped the true meaning of God's mercy and grace. I love the question that asks, "Why is the law no longer necessary?" Also he points out clearly, that God's extraordinary gift of grace to us is not only a gift He gives us, but also a gift He wants us to give to others. Not only did He give us new life in Christ, but gave us the power of His Holy Spirit, who is necessary to make me a "distributor of His grace to all". (Not so easy... but God did this for all of us, when we were dead in our transgressions... God gave us new hearts that made believers, alive in Christ!). WE can't give grace to those who are different from us, or are our enemies through our "old dead hearts". But with a Jesus Heart transplant...God's Grace Gift... and through the power of His Spirit who lives in us... God's Grace makes it possible!

Ephesians 2: 9-10 sums it up:

9."For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith---- and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God---- not by works, so that no one can boast. 10. For we are God's handiwork, created in Jesus Christ to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
