Inspired by the #1 hit song "Good Good Father," as heard on Chris Tomlins new album
"Oh, Ive heard a thousand stories of what they think youre like . . . but Ive heard the tender whisper of love in the dead of night . . . and you tell me that youre pleased . . . and that Im never alone. Youre a good good Father."
Experience the truth of Gods love for His children in refreshing, heartwarming ways through the childrens board book Good Good Father for Little Ones, illustrated with stunning art by Lorna Hussey and penned by Grammy Award-winning Christian music artist Chris Tomlin and Pat Barrett.
With sweet, rhyming text, Good Good Father for Little Ones explores many of the attributes that make God such a good, good Father: like a warrior, He protects you; like a teacher, He helps you learn and grow; like a doctor, He makes you feel better; like a farmer, He provides the food you need; like a musician, He brings you joy. Most of all, a good, good Father loves you!
Based on the childrens picture book Good Good Father, this precious rhyming adaptation will leave little ones with a greater assurance that God truly is a good, good Father and they are loved by Him.
With 10 albums, 13 #1 radio singles, a Grammy Award, 21 Dove Awards, and two platinum and four gold albums to his credit, Chris Tomlin is among the most well-known and influential artists in music. His songs include "How Great Is Our God," "Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)," "Our God," and most recently, "Good Good Father," to name a few. It is estimated that each week 2030 million people sing one of Tomlins songs in worship. More than anything, Chris loves being a husband to Lauren and a daddy to Ashlyn and Madison.
Pat Barrett is a husband, father, songwriter, and worship leader based out of Atlanta, Georgia. He is the worship pastor of Grace-Midtown Church and cowriter of the #1 song "Good Good Father." Pat also travels with Housefires, a worship expression based out of the Atlanta area.

Good Good Father for Little Ones is a board book which is suggested for young readers. It introduces young children to who God is in a way which they can understand and relate to. The style of writing, which was chosen for this book, is a rhyming style. Rhymes are fun for children and help them to remember what they have heard or learned.
I really like how God is presented to children in Good Good Father for Little Ones. He appears to be presented as a loving, caring, and merciful Father. Whereas, some children may think of Him as overbearing, demanding, and very strict; someone which they may not be able to get closer to or share all of their thoughts and feelings with.
The illustrations are full of color and display warm and inviting characters throughout the books pages. I recommend Good Good Father for Little Ones to all parents and young readers.
Lyndsey4 Stars Out Of 5Good, Good Father is GREAT bookJanuary 24, 2017LyndseyQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I love this song but this book is precious as well. The illustrations really add to the sweet factor in this book. While some of the wording was over the head of my toddler, it is a great book about a loving father. It may be confusing to some kids who don't have that image of dad but in first reading it, I was picturing God the Father loving us His children more than an earthly father to a child. I love the illustration of the dad as a lion. Of course, that makes me think of Lewis' Aslan. Overall, great book! *I was provided a copy of this book for my honest review.
Crystal C5 Stars Out Of 5Great BookJanuary 24, 2017Crystal CQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Good Good Father for Little Ones is such a sweet story. Everything about the book is perfect. Its adorable board-book design, makes it great for even the littlest children to carry around and helps keep it free from ripping.
The pictures in this book, are perfectly drawn with color and enough detail to keep little ones entertained. The words in the book rhyme, just enough that little ones sing along to the book and learn the words.
Although, it doesnt necessarily mention God, since my children and I both know the song, we kind of knew that this book was referring to God.
Good Good Father for Little Ones is the perfect first book, or gift for children ages 2-5.
*I received a copy of the book for free.
VictoriaCanadaAge: 25-34Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Sweet story but may require some explanationJanuary 22, 2017VictoriaCanadaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 3Some songs really click with their audience and in 2016, Chris Tomlin's "Good, Good Father" did just that reaching number 1 on the charts. However, the song spends the majority of the song affirming God's role as a good father rather than explaining the aspects that make this true.
In the book Good, Good Father Tomlin and Barrett use dreamy illustrations, strong rhyming sentence structure, and a wonderfully age appropriate story to help teach our little ones what aspects truly make God a good father.
Overall, I was really pleased with the construction of the book. It's durable board book pages are perfect for its intended audience to hold, turn, and interact with. The story itself is easy to read with a strong rhyming structure that helps make children's stories so much easier to read (be it the first, third, or tenth time in a row). The narrative also was intentional in its drawing on a wide variety of examples to help children start to see just how vast the nature of this good father is.
My only concern is that some younger children may be confused as to why their own fathers don't live up to the image formed by the book as it not explicitly stated that the book is talking about God and that no human father can be all these things all the time. My own son was a bit confused due to his age and comprehension.

Debbie from ChristFocusHarrison, ARAge: 35-44Gender: female3 Stars Out Of 5About good fathers, not specifically GodJanuary 19, 2017Debbie from ChristFocusHarrison, ARAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 3Value: 3Meets Expectations: 3This is a children's board book. I thought it was supposed to be about God, but there isn't a single mention of God in the text. The book started by asking "What is a good, good father like?" and then describes this father. But unless you know that the lion with the crown is meant to be God, it sounds like a list of things that a good human father will do.
If the text had said, "God is a good, good father," I would have liked the book. The illustrations and rhyming text are simple, but nice. The book did describe some things about God--he protects you, teaches you, grows food, loves to see you dance and giggle, listens to you, forgives you, etc. A few are a little obscure, like "gives you medicine and fixes boo-boos," which a real dad might do, but not how I'd described God. Since the book appears to simply be about good fathers (including God), I was disappointed.
I received this book as a review copy from the publisher through BookLook.
