Louie Giglio is one of my favorite authors in the Christian Life genre

Louie Giglio is one of my favorite authors in the Christian Life genre and I found this book a beautiful companion to Comeback as well as a stand-alone for those who haven't had the privilege to read the first. I knew Goliath Must Fall would be a beautiful book before it even hit shelves due to reading his fantastic seven day devotional e-mail series. All my life I've struggled with anxiety, fear, past regrets and the whole baggage - and so has Mr. Giglio. He knows what he's talking about and he shares stories to let you know that you're not alone.
This book is for the strong Christian, the new Christian, the skeptic - anyone. He manages to write without being overly preachy and uses personal experience as well as the example of David and Goliath to show how to combat your own giants.
If you're struggling today I highly recommend this read - it's amazing!

Good in-depth perspective on our giants and how to defeat them
June 20, 2017
I have to admit, the first thing that drew me to this book was the cool cover design, then the fact that Louie Giglio writes it. Talking about giants falling definitely piqued my interest also.
Louie launches the book in the story of David and Goliath, recreating the scene in a way I had not fully thought through before, as a masterful storyteller would. He goes on to talk about the giants we face in our life. How often we think that the lesson of the story is that we are David, facing our giants, whereas the reality is, that it is Jesus who has faced our giants victoriously, when He went to the cross. In Louie's words 'Your giant is dead, and yet your giant is still deadly' p33. He compares this to killing snakes and pulling off their heads and how the head is still dangerous if someone steps on it. Using this analogy he compares our giants to the snake heads that we stand on and get bitten.
Louie goes on to discuss some different giants you may be facing. The giant of fear, rejection, comfort, anger and addiction. He also discusses the importance of forgiveness.
This book is an interesting read with some really helpful insights. Louie interjects stories and analogies to further make his points, which all, in my opinion, worked really well to get his messages crystal clear. He urges the reader to get their eyes set on Jesus and in glorifying Him through our lives, as David's eye's were. We can walk in the freedom Jesus has won for us already.
I would recommend this book.
Please note that I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for review however all opinions expressed are entirely my own.
I know of Louie Giglio through his Passion Conferences for college-age young adults. I am a parent of 2 former college-aged adults who were not able to attend a conference while away at school, but when Passion came to our city 3 years in a row, we were in the front of the line to volunteer to serve. Three days of powerful life-changing speakers & original music by the greatest Christian music artists.
When I first heard about Louies new book, I wrongly assumed it was written for the same college-age audience. Then I received an email from the Passion organization asking if I would be interested in reading the book to give honest feedback, to which I immediately replied yes!
It is a great read and I loved it!
Also, not just for young adults!
Based on the Bible story of David & Goliath, the narrative is applied to our own personal giants. Expect the unexpected, there are twists and turns, but expect Jesus to show up! Admittedly, I personally have more than 1 giant lurking around my corner, so I was glad to see that Louie listed 5 giants that MUST Fall!
