David Drayer5 Stars Out Of 5November 23, 2008David DrayerThis book is an excellent choice as a chapter book for sixth grade in California. The book deals accurately with the social structures and beliefs of ancient Egypt. The plot deals with topics that impact many students of this age. The hero of the story is a young boy who after being orphaned works to find his place in the world. The boy has to deal with physical abuse and neglect from his step brother, He also has to deal with the moral issue of what to do when other people want you to help them to steal. A related issue is how to form friendships and how to tell other people about the problems in your life. The book provides many excellent opportunities for class discussions about important issues. The students relate well to the characters in the story, and the background of the book supports the sixth grade social studies curruclum
