For Teens, Not Children

I am a church librarian and had gotten these books for our student library, going on the above recommended ages of 9-12. While my daughter, who is 9 turning 10, is enjoying them, she has come to us with some things she's uncomfortable with, such as romance (kissing between Trish and her boyfriend) and the mention of a tutor offering "uppers" to her ("Mom, what are uppers?"), for example. I strongly disagree with the above recommendation of ages 9-12 (possibly for a mature 11 or 12) and we will have her wait before reading any more books by this author. These will definitely be moved to our teen section at church.
