Using Titus 2 as her foundation, Hughes touches upon the good behavior listed for women in verses 3-5, giving each behavior its own chapter in order to allow the reader to concentrate easily on one concept at a time. Within each chapter are personal stories from Hughes's own life and the lives of women she knows, as well as explanations of and biblical cross references to each virtue she writes about. At the end of each chapter are questions for the reader to ask herself to see if she's fallen into the trap of not behaving appropriately.

As a teacher for woman's Bible studies for more than twenty years, Hughes has become a recognized speaker at women's retreats and conferences. It is through these experiences that she has gained the knowledge to write a book such as God's Priorities for Today’s Woman. She writes, "I remember as a young believer fearing that somehow I would miss knowing God’s will for my life," (p. 7) so she has made it her mission to help women not miss the Lord’s calling.

This book is biblically based in its lessons and has appropriate examples and direct Bible quotes. However, there isn’t anything that makes it distinctly different from other books about how to be a godly woman. The quoted verses are familiar to women of faith, the lessons are a bit rehashed from standard talks given at women's retreats, and the questions are quite predictable. Although not groundbreaking for those who have grown up in the church, God's Priorities for Today's Woman would be a good foundational text for new believers. – Demelza N.
