Tell us a little about yourself. I became a Christian early in life, but my learning did not come easy nor in a formal setting. God used drastic measures to teach me his ways and get my attention. He sent me into unfamiliar territory to lead worship services in a nursing home.That was more than sixteen years ago. I now conduct services in five facilities each week.
What was your motivation behind this project? I believe the uniqueness of the book, God Speaks We Listen, is one of its greatest strengths. Listening to God is both relevant and an under-discussed topic in Christian circles. In the book, I speak of being deliberate about spending quality time with God; not just praying and reading the Bible, but learning how to listen to what He is saying when He answers. We are not told or taught how to listen to God. Thats why we miss so many of Gods available blessings in our life. I highlight several familiar Bible stories for what they teach us about listening to God. Most of us know the stories so well that we never stop to analyze the significance of these people hearing from the Lord, and the relevancy of the Bible in current days. The book is strictly based on Gods word and being in a relationship with him, but I have worked in some contemporary elements and references to pop culture that readers can connect with to build an effective analogy. God Speaks We Listen will hold the readers interest from beginning to end.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope the readers will develop a vivid awareness of the Lord speaks to us. Slow down and listen for the whispers from God. He has a message of hope, assurance, and promise for us, if we will only listen. People of the world are searching for answers and purpose in their lives. God will supply both when we learn to listen.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? Living with todays fast paced lifestyle, we never seem to take time to be quiet and wait for God to speak. I have learned to be patient, and prepare myself to listen when God speaks.
