Sparks fly when quick-tempered Southern belle Coraline Chretien meets a Yankee major, William Kelly, on a bridge in war-torn southeastern Louisiana. Their paths soon cross again as the Yankees and Rebels clash in the 1863 Battle of Buzzard's Prairie and Cora's family plantation is overrun. Unable to deny her attraction to this kind-hearted enemy officer, Cora finds herself falling in love, much to the disapproval of both family and neighbors.
Cora and Will must trust God's providence in an impossible situation when everything seems against them. Will Cora sort out her conflicting emotions and family loyalties? Will the major reconcile his duty to the Union army and his attraction to Cora? Throw in a contested search for the mythical and elusive buried treasure that could save the plantation from being sold for taxes, and you have the makings of an explosive drama. Can Cora locate the buried treasure and avoid the loss of her ancestral home? Will Major Will return to win her Rebel father's approval to marry Cora?
Set at the Chretien Point plantation during a little-known battle of the Civil War in a lesser-known part of the South, this inspirational historical romance deals with the universal struggles of forbidden love, overcoming threatening obstacles, and seeking God's will.
