SignGirl5 Stars Out Of 5Lisa Tawn Bergren Skillfully Teaches ThankfulnessAugust 17, 2016SignGirlQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The "God Gave Us"-themed books usually follow a curious polar bear cub, but "God Gave Us Thankful Hearts" now centers on a fox family. Lisa Tawn Bergren continues to write in a comfortable conversational manner. Initially, I was slow to warm up to the new fox pup, but by the last page, I really appreciated the lessons and examples of thankfulness that permeate the story.
The pup is glum at the beginning of the book because he is dreading the arrival of winter. His mom carefully leads him to see instances, even after sad events, that could be seen through joyful eyes. Pup's dad also makes an appearance and offers significant comments about enjoying events, merely because they are together.
When I read the book to my young children, I was able to pause and ask follow-up questions, either from the fall-colored artwork or with the written examples. Overall, my kids seemed to like the new fox family just as much as our friends, the polar bears. This is another nice book to have on your bookshelf!
I received this book from Blogging for Books for my honest review. -
Cindy NavarroCullman, ALAge: Over 65Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5God Gave Us Thankful HeartsAugust 11, 2016Cindy NavarroCullman, ALAge: Over 65Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Really great children's book, especially as we get closer to Thanksgiving. "God Gave Us Thankful Hearts," written by Lisa Tawn Bergren and artwork by David Holm, is a delightful book that tells the story of Lil' Pup who is grumbling over the fact that Winter is approaching. This 40 page hard cover book is simple for a young reader to enjoy, but also suitable for parents to read to younger children. The lesson to be grateful and look for the positive in all things is one that needs to be taught early, and the book is a perfect conversation opener or even a game to encourage children to develop an attitude of gratitude early in life. Children will also love looking at the bright Autumn colors that Holm uses throughout the book. A great addition to your personal or church library.
I received a copy of this book from Waterbrook-Multnomah "Blogging For Books" program at no cost to myself. However, I was not required to write a positive review. -
RichGift5 Stars Out Of 5Great BookDecember 3, 2020RichGiftQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5My 3 year old son loves this book. He wants to read it every night. This is a great addition to the series and I like that Little Pup is a little boy. There are not enough books with little boys as the main character in my opinion. Great addition to our library.

This book tells of a bear family and the baby bear is not happy with the changes that the Fall season brings. As his mother and father correct him to be thankful for the things he has and for the changes. This is a great story that teaches all ages to look at what you have, not what you don't have.
I would recommend this book to everyone, the art work and story line is of great teachings. When reading this book, it will make you realize how thankful you should be for everything, good and bad. Buy this book for yourself and buy it for a gift, it is one of those books that you will talk about, think about and learn a lesson from. GREAT BOOK!!! I am very thankful for this author and artist, can't wait for the next one.

Her newest book focuses on a wolf family and little wolf's discovery of thankfulness. Adding this to our back-to-school/ fall book rotation but it has a temporary place on our book shelf - We just didn't find this picture book/ story to be very interesting.
