This was such a wonderfully sweet and informative book! I have been curious about this illustrated series, God Gave Us, for kids for a little while. I have to say, this first adventure into this beautifully illustrated book makes me excited to read the rest of them.

Kids are always full of questions and sometimes it's hard to answer them. They can bounce around from subject to subject so quickly, you can loose track and get confused...that's from personal experience. I loved how Little Cub asked her Papa all of these questions and they were answered easily and smoothly, and on a level that is perfect for littles to understand.

This book takes what is known from the Bible about angels, they are servants of God who are ready to do anything He asks. They fight for us, they are messengers, they are warriors, and they can also watch over us. I loved how it was all presented.

The illustrations also enhance what Papa Bear is trying to say to Little Cub. The colors just pop! The drawings are beautiful and they flow from page to page. It is a story that can be a fantastic bedtime book!

This is a very sweet book with beautiful illustrations. This the first book I have read by Lisa Tawn Bergren, but I will be looking for her other books to purchase for my family. She has written over 40 books, with many of them be the same type of thoughtGod Gave us. I enjoyed the way she had the little cub asking questions about angels and the Dad being able to answer those same questions in a biblical way.

The story talks about how there are angels all around us and how they watch over us and love us, but that God loves us more because He created us and the angels.

The target age for the book 3-7 years of age or preschool to 2nd grade. The text is written in such fashion that a 1st or 2nd grader who is a strong reader can read the book alone. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the this book and look forward to sharing it with my grandchildren. (rev. P.Howard)

God Gave Us Angels is marketed for children ages 3-8. I was curious how the author, Lisa Tawn Bergren, would deal with the topic of angels in a kid friendly way. Little Cub is "Lookin' for angels," so Papa Bear gives his cub Biblical information about angels.

-Angels are all around us, but invisible most of the time.

-Angels serve God and do what He wants.

    -Angels are messengers .

-Angels guard or fight for God's people.

-Angels worship God, but are not to be worshiped or prayed to.

    -Angels don't really wear halos.

-Angels sometimes are in disguise (a test to see if we will care for those in need).

-Angels live in heaven and sing praise to God.

This is a well written children's book. I enjoy the simple way Bergren handles a weighty topic and the colorful artwork by Laura J. Bryant. My only complaint is the use of "Imbisible" for Little Cub's version of "Invisible." I would prefer my kids read and hear the correct spelling and pronunciation of a word. However, this is definitely a book I will share with my children.

I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review.

This book by: Lisa Tawn Bergren and illustrated by: Laura J. Bryant is another encouraging tale of the cute polar bear family that appear in several "God Gave Us" stories. The book starts out with Papa Bear finding Little Cub up on a tree branch...

"What are you doing up here, Little Cub?" Papa Bear asked.

"Lookin' for angels," she said in a hushed voice. "The bunnies said they're all around us."

Little Cub and Papa Bear continue their casual conversation while walking over snow covered hills, swimming through icy water, playing with the penguins and other animals. Little Cub asks a series of questions about angels and his Papa Bear patiently answers.

"What do angel's do all day?"

"Does all that worshiping' give them those halo thingies?"

Little Cub ends the day dreaming peacefully of angels.

This book has beautiful illustrations and would be appealing to young children. You can see the connection between Papa Bear and Little Bear not only with the written conversation but also with the pictures. The questions that Little Bear asks are relevant and real questions that a child may have. Papa Bear answers them in a though provoking and sincere way. The answers were also perfectly geared toward a child's level. I personally agree with how all of the questions were answered. I would imagine that there may be other teachings about angels within different denominations that would disagree with some of the responses. I would recommend this book for young children who are curious about angels (and/or who like polar bears).

Side Note: From a scientific perspective, polar bears and penguins do not live in the same habitat. Polar bears live in the North Pole and penguins live in Antarctica (South Pole). I personally don't think this is an issue because a child would probably not care but I thought I would mention it just in case.

This is a great children's book. It goes with the same theme as all of the GOD gave us story books. This one is how the cub's want to know if angels are real and if you can see them. As the same style as the other titles it teaches that GOD is the one in control and HE is above everything including the angels.

This is a great book to read aloud to children and use as a teaching tool. Loved the illustrations and the meaning of this story. BUY this book and enjoy, it is as good as the first book GOD Gave Us You.
