This is the first translation I ever read cover to cover. This edition has a section describing the translation.

I was given a New Testament version of this bible as a teenager at graduation by my pastor. It was was the blue-jeans pocket design and I have cherished the gift for over 46 years - the illustrations are unique to this bible and I believe a gift from God to us through Annie Valloton the artist (1915-2013). Simple illustrations yet interesting and pertinent to the translation philosophy. I purchased the full bible in this translation so I could enjoy the old testament.

Someone in my Sunday School Class reads from this version. I liked it so much, that I decided to purchase one. The font is a good size - - not really large mind you, but easily readable. My only dislike is the amount of illustrations throughout this version. I think most of these drawings are unnecessary.

The bible is too thick. The paper is old porous not finish pages. The paper covers

are flimsy. Mostly the print is very small. I remember the old gnb in either black or gold

hardcover with finished white paper not porous off white paper. The quality is not what

it use to be. The binding will roll with use. It is cheap priced and cheaply made. I do not

recommend this bible.
