Author/Artist Review

Author: Stacie Reid

Tell us a little about yourself.  I have always dreamed of becoming an author. I have always loved reading. My parents used to tease me because I could always be found somewhere around the house or outside with a book in my hand. I have traveled many, many places in this world simply by picking up a book. It truly was a dream to one day write a book and get it published. My dream became a reality. Yours can too! Never give up on your dreams!

What was your motivation behind this project?  I lost my husband February 11, 2008 to a massive heart attack. He was only forty four years old. It was such a shock and my whole world was turned upside down. I felt as if I lost my identity and did not know the woman looking at me in the mirror. God began a work on my broken heart. We traveled this journey together and I knew our journey was one that was meant to be shared. In fact, I almost didn't write the book but God led me to a sign that said, "Never let your pain be wasted!" I knew what He was telling me and chose to not let my pain be wasted. I almost gave up on my life. God didn't let me give up. Too many people give up and feel that they cannot have joy again after loss. They can't see beyond their pain and sorrow. There absolutely is joy beyond that pain. God's Word says, Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning. It truly will return. He doesn't say what morning, but He promises us that it will return. It absolutely returned to me. I also found that with that joy came, peace, strength, hope and courage. I knew our story must be shared! It was written from the heart. I held nothing back in writing this book God led the way!

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  My prayer is that all readers will see His love and light throughout the pages. I pray that my book will be a blessing and show that there is life beyond that pain. My prayer is also that those who are fighting that deep depression and faced with suicidal thoughts will see life beyond that pain. You can get beyond that depression. You can truly start living again and not merely existing. My prayer is also that anyone who does not know Christ will come to know Him.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  I shared that I almost did not write this book. Writing this book meant I had to face the pain. I had to go back and face memories that were hard to face. One day I was at home and I just had to go for a drive. I told my husband I would be back in a bit and grabbed my keys. I drove down to the General Store and bought a soda. I got back in the car and started to put on my blinker to turn left. I knew I was supposed to go right instead. God led me to our church. I couldn't figure out why He wanted me there until I turned and read the words on our church sign. They said, "Do not let your pain be wasted!" I knew God wanted me to go forward with writing this book. I sat down and prayed each time before I would begin to work on the book. I always prayed for my fingers to dance across the keys with the words God wanted me to write. He led me word for word daily. He also continued working on my heart. It was an amazing journey that changed me in many ways. I have a strong desire to share with the grieving a message of hope.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  I love to read Beth Moore Bible Studies as well as Stormie Omartian, Billy Graham and so many more. Brother Gary Beard is also an inspiration to me. He wrote a book that is a Bible Study called Victory in Jesus. I love to hear people share about their love of Jesus and their testimonies.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  I am a survivor of grief. I am an overcomer and a child of God. You can get beyond that deep depression. Suicide is not the answer. You can definitely get beyond that dark place and start living again. I remarried four years after becoming a widow. I am now a mother and a grandmother. In fact, I became a wife again, a mother and a grandmother in the same day. God loves you so very much and so does Stacie Reid. I am praying for you! To God be the glory!
