Sissy Goff is talking directly to me.

That's what it feels like when reading her new book for teen girls, Brave. No, I am not technically categorized as a teen anymore, but the wisdom Sissy gives is timeless. She explains exactly what anxiety is in a clear way without dumbing anything down, why girls get anxious, and how to cope with it. And the way she writes, it's as if she's in the room with me, giving me advice and listening to my struggles.

Sissy Goff is a therapist. She's been helping girls for years, and she knows how we tick. That's partly why her book works so well- she knows just what to say and how to say it. This book is PERFECT for that girl in your life who struggles with worry.

I voluntarily received this book from the publisher in order to write an honest review. All opinions are truly my own.

Brave* by Sissy Goff is written for teen girls experiencing anxiety and I NEEDED this book as a teen! I hope my own daughters won't need this book but since it's full of wisdom for those suffering from extreme anxiety and those who just find themselves frequently worrying, I am so grateful to have it on their shelf.

I may not be a teen girl but I was about 20 years ago and I also have a young daughter who will eventually become a teen. I know the struggles that teen girls go through but also realize those struggles have evolved immensely over the last several years. As a parent to a daughter, I want to be prepared as much as possible to help her work through those struggles of today's society.

Goff structures the book with three sections and a total of nine chapters:

    - Section One: Understanding

    - Section Two: Help

    - Section Three: Hope

The book itself takes on the feel of a journal or study workbook. Each chapter has several questions and space to write out your personal answer and thoughts.

I greatly appreciate Goff's transparency with her counseling experience. She brings a ton of knowledge into the realm of worry and anxiety that many parents and teens don't understand. Having this basic knowledge changes so much regarding our foundational thought process when we are struggling with worry and anxiety. It sets the stage for our next steps in battling these emotions.

I appreciate her including at the very beginning a section directly to parents of girls reading the book. She provides encouragement, steps for encouraging your daughter, and how to help her work through this book and beyond.

I think this is a great resource for any teen girl that may be struggling with worry and anxiety. It could easily be worked through together with a parent as well.

I received a copy of this book from BethanyHouse in exchange for an honest review.
