    I'm so happy I found this book! Girl Talk is a 52-week devotional for young teen girls. I hope my daughter will enjoy it. If you have a daughter in this age group, you'll want to check it out.

    This devotional is more comprehensive than most, yet it's still easy to understand. Each starts with a Bible verse, followed by a story about a teenage girl. Daily journaling pages with prompts follow these. Each of the 52 devotionals ends with a prayer.

    I love that the author, Lois Walfrid Johnson, encourages her readers to memorize the 52 Bible verses as they work their way through the book, pointing out the fact that by the end of a year, they'll have 52 messages from God secured in their heads for Him to remind them of as needed throughout their lives. Johnson also suggests that her readers find mentors to talk with about new ideas and lessons they want to apply. "Not every problem is suddenly solved," she writes, "but the right person can help you see what's happening from a different viewpoint. Instead of feeling alone, you know there's someone who wants the best for you."

    Finally, Johnson tells her readers to share their thoughts with Jesus as they work through the book, to ask Him what He wants them to know and to tell Him what they need His help with. Girls who read this book will over the course of a year will develop the disciplines of Bible study, Scripture memory, fellowship with older believers, and prayer.

    I thank Zonderkids for sending a complimentary copy to me. I'm happy to share my thoughts through this review.

    This is the kind of book I wish I had when I was young. It covers a range of real-life situations in a loving, caring manner, gently addressing girl issues with biblical truths.

    The book has 52 readings, which contain a Bible verse, a short story, seven questions, and a prayer. A girl can answer one question per day, as the book outlines, or at her own pace. This book would be a good Bible study for a mom and her daughter to go through together.

    The characters in the short stories are drawn with realistic feelings. They aren't perfect people. They break the rules, complain, feel insecure, and don't always treat others right. They come from all different backgrounds; some are from troubled homes, others are in traditional families. I appreciate the effort the author made to write these stories with realism and compassion. Even if a girl reading this book can't relate to the situation being described, I believe these stories and questions will give her greater understanding for peers in different situations.

    The discussion questions help a girl examine her own situation and apply God's Word to her problems. I like that in each section, the author writes a question that helps a girl come up with a game plan about each issue. If a girl applies these questions to her daily life, her faith will be strong in the challenging teenage years.

    I chose to review this book because I thought it would make a good Christmas present for my eight-year-old daughter. After reading the book, I think the subject matter is more appropriate for girls ages 10 to 14. I will hide it away and plan to study this book alongside my daughter when she's a little older, and I will buy a copy for myself as well.

    I like this book as it is first broken down weekly (undated) then broken down by day. Each week starts with a story and each day of the week relates to that story. The goal of this book is to help young girls see that other girls go through similar situations that they go through. It helps them to start journaling and relating Scripture to their lives.

    My recommendation: give this to your daughter, your niece, your cousin. She will glean from this. It will help her understand and possibly spark a few conversations about what she reads. It will help her see the beauty in the life around her.

    Thus far I will say I love everything put out by the Faithgirlz brand.

    {FYI: I received this book from BookLook Blogger program in exchange for my HONEST opinion.}
