I really enjoy Nicole O'Dell's radio show - Teen Talk Radio - so I wasn't at all surprised by how much I enjoyed Girl Talk. My daughter is four and a long ways off from needing a book like this but reading through it brought to my attention social issues that she'll need to be prepared for. This would be a great book for parents and daughters to read together.
Are you or do you have a teenage daughter ? Wanting her to get closer with the Lord but finding it hard with the modern world and all it's pressures ? Teen Christian author Nicole O'Dell who normally writes fiction based on real-life peer pressure scenarios has compiled a list of 180 Questions and Answers to help your teen to get through today's world with God still on her side. In this book, you'll find 180 questions along with answers and related scriptures
that will both encourage and challenge you in your faith walk. We've included some of the questions we've posted on the website, but most of the ones you'll read in this book are brand new. They're all actual questions from real girls who have struggled with tough issues.
Have questions about life stuffââ¬ârelationships, character, body image, fashion gossip. . . ? Look no further with Girl Talk!
With each topic comes a question from an everyday teen girl like you and me and answered by Nicole and a friend Natalie , inputing God into the answers.
This is one of those life-guides that I recommend every Teenage Girl , no matter if they are Christian or not should have on her bookshelf as depending on the question they can flick to the appropiate page .
The newest book in Nicole O'Dell's library is Girl Talk, written with her two daughters. Nicole, who has a tremendous heart to help teens make wise choices, started an advice column on her blog several years ago. (Think Ask Ann Landers, only for tweens and teens!) She and her daughters answered the questions, some of which are very complex. The depth of these questions--and their answers--gives me insight into the deep challenges facing today's young people. Kids want to know how others their age feel about these things. They often believe that adults are out of touch and provide simplistic advice.
Reading the answers of Nicole's two daughters as well as her own response balances that supposition out. Our young people need godly answers and Nicole, Natalie, and Emily are meeting a distinct need with this gorgeous book. This will make a great gift for the girls in your life.
This is a great book for teen girls, and for moms to read and discuss with their daughters. The questions are from actual teens, questioning their faith, wondering how to navigate relationships, and asking for help for some of life's trickiest problems. If you're a mom looking for a great resource to help talk to your daughter about deep, important subjects, this book is what you've been looking for. And girls, if you're needing advice and not sure where to turn, this is for you. It's in an attractive, easy-to-read format, and includes a parent's and a teen girl's perspective.
Girl Talk is a 200-plus-page, glossy, full-color book filled with questions from teen girls. Nicole O'Dell and her daughters Natalie and Emily answer each questions with wisdom and grace. This is a great book for a girl to read on her own, for sisters or friends to read together, or for mom and daughter to read a little each day as discussion starters for some great topics.
Some of my favorite questions asked for advice in regards to:
-When your friend is babysitting your siblings and bringing her boyfriend along but your parents don't know.
-Whether or not the bible old-fashioned and out of touch with today.
-Dating a boy to teach him more about God.
-Why I still feel guilty when I know God has forgiven me.
-A boy texting me when he knows I'm not allowed to text him.
-What do do for your overseas military dad to let him know you're proud of him.
-How to fit in and still be modest.
-Whether it's fair for parents to know all your passwords for email and Facebook.
The questions in this book were selected from actual questions they authors have received on their popular advice blog that you can find through the Nicole O'Dell website. Check out the blog to get an idea of how this book works. This is a great book to encourage and challenge a teen in their faith.
