This book is about a girl named Willow who is surprised to learn her old friend Ashton is out of jail for a crime he committed. But she thought he was always innocent and helps prove it in this mysterious book. As they uncover clues as to who they think committed the crime, they end up in dangerous situations because the real killer who I will not share, is wanting them to not find out the truth. This book had a lot of twists and turns that had me not sure of what was going on. This book immediately got my attention so I ran to get this book off the website and read it. I read the whole book in one day and the book is pretty big about 300 or so pages. I would like to read more books by this author if I get the chance. I originally thought this book was about ghosts and spirits but it wasn't. I thought it was about spirits and ghosts because of where the town and house takes place but you will see what I mean when you read the book. All in all I really enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone who wants a great book to immerse themselves in and just get away from it all and live in the book for a while. The book took me to another place where I got out of my life for a while. I was really pleased.

Four years ago, Willows best friend, Ashton, was sent to Juvenile Detention for manslaughter. She hasnt heard anything from him in all that time, though she sent him dozens of letters and defended his innocence to anyone who would listen. Now, though, Ashton has been released from prison and is coming back to their town Gilt Hollow for revenge against those who falsely accused him. What does that mean for Willow, who Ashton believes deserted him?

Gilt Hollow by Lorie Langdon was an interesting book. It is a YA romance and mystery, the characters seniors in high school and the story revolving around the mystery of who is really the murderer. The murder mystery part of the plot was very intriguing. Someone was framing Ashton for the weird things that were happening in the town and high schoola shredded football uniform, a robbery, and more. The characters eventually started working together to discover who was framing him, and their discoveries kept me in suspense throughout. The setting was wonderfully described and used to the storys advantage, as were the events and quirks in the town. I wasnt always sure what to make of the romance though. We have this young man bent on revenge and this sweet girl trying to survive high school, and it was cute how everything turned out. But there were times when I wondered, with the knowledge that Willow had at the time, whether she should want a relationship with Ashton at all. He seemed creepy and cruel at times, though some of that was just her perception of him without all the facts, and made me wonder about the healthiness of their relationship. Everything turned out all right at the end, though. The characters were perfect for each other.

I enjoyed this novel and recommend it to those who enjoy YA contemporary novels.

    Thrilling. Addictive. Loved.

That's the answer to the question, "How would you describe this book in three words?" Five Stars! Using more words could result in a never ending torrent of book love from yours truly... But lets give it a whirl!

Willow is your average girl, yet she's got some serious issues. Ashton is at the root of those issues, or is he? When he comes walking back into her life, it's like dynamite. And I don't just mean that because their romance is so. stinking. swoony. Gilt Hollow is a thrilling mystery! Each time I picked up this book, I was sucked into the story. All of a sudden, a hundred pages had been turned. And I desperately craved more!

Like I said, the romance was total swoonsville. The thrill resembled the first drop of a roller coaster. The mystery was intoxicating. While there's always someone who can spot the Big Twist, I doubt anyone could anticipate every twist in this mysterious beauty. Highly recommend!

*Reminder* Books published under the Blink imprint are intended for a general readership without being overtly Christian. My more conservative readers should note that there is a little bit of language, and eccentric is an understatement for this town and her inhabitants. However, what I found between these pages were two people struggling to find the truth in the midst of their darkness, and find it and God in the process.

Lorie Langdon is co-author of the popular (read fantastic) Doon series. Gilt Hollow is her first solo novel. Read. Them. All.

Wow-I'm not sure where to begin with Gilt Hollow. First of all, it's obvious Lori Langdon poured her heart into her writing. She's created a funky college town as a perfect setting for the town of Gilt Hollow. Her characters are vibrant and deep. And the story left me breathless at times. All of that being said, it's been awhile since I've read young adult literature. I was somewhat surprised to find a sprinkling of curse words and a few heated kissing scenes since I received this book from a Christian publisher (Blink, Zondervan). I'm not going to get on my soapbox, but felt the cursing wasn't necessary and the kissing scenes could have been toned down. I was pleased with the theme of forgiveness and how it played out including some references to God. The book is written for older teens (15+) and deals with violent circumstances and teen romance. Lorie is also the co-writer of the Doon series. I received Gilt Hollow in exchange for a fair review.

    Gilt Hollow

Four years after Ashton Keller made a plea deal for the murder of a friend, he is granted release from his juvenile facility. His only goal is to return to his hometown and find the true guilty party and enact vengeance. But upon returning, he discovers his former home is now inhabited by none other than his former best friend and her family.

Willow Lamott gave up on Ashton after a year of awaiting responses to her letters to no avail but she never doubted his innocence. Shes managed to fade into the background but she has not gone unnoticed. Determined to make her senior year of high school as normal as possible, Willows attempt at normal comes to a screeching halt the moment Ashton steps back into her life.

As the two try to come to terms with the lies with their precarious relationship and someone trying to run Ashton out of town, they discover scheming from more sides than expected. Now that Willows back in his life, Ashton will do anything he needs to in order to keep her and her family safe, even if that means leaving her again.

Lorie Langdon weaves a tale of intrigue and who-done-it up until the very end. The life-long friendship between Ashton and Willow is growing into something more as the reader is swept along. And Willows friend Lisa adds a light touch to this intense story exactly when the reader needs a break. For teenagers (and even adults) interested in a good mystery, Gilt Hollow is one to put on your TBR list.
