Publisher's Description

C. S. Lewis said everything he wrote was influenced by George MacDonald. According to Lewis, there is "hardly any other writer who seems to be closer, or more continuously close, to the Spirit of Christ Himself." Writing a preface and selecting MacDonald's most poignant passages, Lewis introduces us to these extraordinary treasures. Ranging from "Inexorable Love" to "The Torment of Death," these words will instruct and uplift.

I've enjoyed Lewis' mind since I started reading him after belatedly accepting Christ. Knowing MacDonald was his 'mentor' and this book was Lewis' selections from his writings was anxious to see what Lewis saw. After reading, its clear why Lewis put MacDonald in a special class. Not that Lewis totally agreed with MacDonald's theology (believe he leaned Catholic which Lewis did not), liked MacDonald's presentation. Not as 'apologetic' as Lewis but nicely balanced in his thinking.
