In this book, Whitcomb and Morris relied heavily on the Adventist claims of George McCready Price to promote a young-earth view. The scientific claims were plainly wrong based on the knowledge of geology available in 1770, much less what was known by 1960. More importantly, it is not based on careful reading of Genesis that takes Scripture seriously on its own terms. By misinterpreting Genesis 1 as a scientific description, it turns people away from thinking about God to arguing about science. Science is not the ultimate truth; by insisting that Genesis 1 is scientific they put too high a value on science. At the same time, it attacks the findings of science across a wide range of fields. Even many current young-earth advocates do not accept several of the arguments made in the book. This book has done great harm to Christianity by making the theological, historical, and scientific errors of creation science popular. Many people abandon the faith because they are taught that being a Christian means believing in a young earth, rather than rooting faith in Jesus Christ.

Excellent work. Well written and researched. The science and logic are clearly laid out and the book is very readable. A must read for anyone desiring to gain a solid foundational understanding of creation science.

This is a must have book on the genesis flood. It certainly changed my views on how science should be related to the bible. Those of have capitulated to evolutionary theories will not like this book for the simple reason that it is Biblical. I appreciate all of Morris and Whitcomb's works and their works will go down in history as some of the most important works published for conservative evangelicals in the 20th and 21 century. Any works with their names is eagerly recommended.

Very accurate and scientific. Yet, easy for a layman like myself to understand and appreciate. This is TRUE science at it's best!

This is perhaps one of the best books ever written on the Genesis flood. We have a copy we purchased at a Creation Research conference about 41 years ago and we have thought it was lost a couple times, but then it was returned. This is our "sharing copy".
