Author Bio

Kenneth A. Matthews is Professor of Old Testament at Beeson Divinity School, Samford University. He is an expert in text criticism, Biblical Hebrew, and the literary study of the Old Testament. He published with David Noel Freedman the official text and notes on the Paleo-Hebrew Leviticus Scroll and has written numerous scholarly and popular articles and books including commentaries on Genesis, Leviticus, Deuteronomy, and Amos. He is a Bible translator, having worked on the New Living Translation. He was educated at Dallas Baptist University (B.A.), Dallas Theological Seminary (Th.M.), and the University of Michigan (Ph.D.).
