Advice from the heart of a rather hip and savvy Baby Boomer grandmother offers insight for grandmothering in the twenty-first century.
The rules for grandmothers have changed. The new silver generation is savvy and sophisticated-managing businesses, working out with a personal trainer, and traveling to exotic locations. But what about their care and nurturing of the next generation? How can they stay connected and leave a legacy, cheerleading and hand-holding those who come behind?
This handbook provides encouragement for grandmothers with the real issues they face today. Seven sections of essays challenge grandmothers to become healers, peacemakers, repairers of the breach in families, and to celebrate life transitions and aging. Topics, both humorous and serious, range from the importance of choosing a name, waiting at the hospital, and getting wrinkles to blended families, step-grandparenting, in-laws, boundaries, and dying. Generation G will inspire grandmothers to realize their calling is great and their gift, of themselves, essential.
Cheri5 Stars Out Of 5Generation G: Advice for Savvy Grandmothers Who Will Never Go GrayJune 28, 2016CheriQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This book was such a blessing to me as a first time Grandmother. Each chapter has a verse under its title and relates to the principle she is explaining in that chapter. The author's simplistic writing creates emotions of joy and tears as I easily related to the subject matter. I have vowed to give this book to every Grandmother I know and have already purchased 10! Great read!

Each chapter has a verse under its title and relates to the principle she is explaining in that chapter. She gives just enough personal stories as examples that by the end of the book you feel like she is a lifelong friend.
The chapters are written in a friendly non-judgmental manner. It is easy to read and follow. At the next baby shower bring this book along for the Grandmother to be. I think it is a must read for all Grandmothers, especially those who are young at heart.

Ginger Tate5 Stars Out Of 5December 28, 2008Ginger TateGeneration G, by Author Marty Norman, is an excellent book that gives advice for savvy grandmothers. Grandmothers of this generation are different than grandmothers of the past. Things and times have changed. Grandmothers are not like the images we have of them sitting in a rocking chair, in the kitchen with their apron, or sitting on the back porch watching the world go by. Grandmothers of today are active. They travel, teach, preach, have jobs and stay in shape Grandmothers of today are savvy.Marty Norman writes and gives advice on how a grandmother can reach her grandchildren in a way that is not preachingbut teaches how a grandmother can win them over in wisdom, hope, strength & love. A grandmother has many opportunities to help, teach, play and learn with their grandchildren. The book, Generation G, gives ideas on how to keep in contact with grandchildren that live in another state. This book also gives ideas on family traditions, play times, vacations, etc.The greatest part about Generation G is that it helps you, the Grandmother, find your own style and footprint that will reach your grandchildren in years to come. As a grandmother, this is a book that I highly recommend. I have taken notes, made plans and have started making my own legacy with my grandchildren. Buy Generation G.it will be one of the best decisions youve ever made.
