Publisher's Description

Much more than a how-to flower gardening book (though you will learn how to), Garden Maker is for those who want to grow beautiful things that reflect the glory and majesty of the Creator and bring a little bit of heaven down to earth.

From the beginning God made a garden, so it’s no surprise if you feel closer to Him with your hands in the dirt and the sun on your back. There is something profoundly soul-satisfying about creating and cultivating beauty. If you long to experience more splendor in your life, you can grow some of your very own.

Join kindred spirit Christie Purifoy as she helps you unearth the simple delights of growing garden flowers, from preparing and planning to creating beautiful bouquets and other arrangements. Lavishly photographed and lovingly written, this all-seasons guide invites you to discover the innumerable joys and wonders to be found in the flower garden.

Editorial Reviews

"A charming love letter to cultivating outdoor beauty, Garden Maker is motivation for the beginner and inspiration for the seasoned gardener."
—Myquillyn Smith, New York Times Bestselling author of Welcome Home

"Gardening is equal parts art and science, and it’s a beautiful thing to have someone walk you into their garden and show you how they meet. In Garden Maker, Christie is the gentlest of guides in the loveliest of spots. Join her for a life-giving garden walk."
—Julie Witmer, garden designer, gardening coach, author, and photographer

"When I read Christie's enchanting book, I was reminded of John Ruskin's quip that the most beautiful things in the world are the most useless. With each crafted essay, Christie invites us into the uselessness of beauty. I see this wonderful book as a quiet cultural rebellion. While society says produce, utilize, and leverage, Christie's prose whispers to us: Stop. Reflect. Delight. Reading Garden Maker nourished my spirit and inspired me to dig in the dirt. Beauty is on a comeback, and Christie is leading the charge."
—Timothy D. Willard, theologian, novelist, and author of the The Beauty Chasers: Recapturing the Wonder of the Divine
